Ellie E | Is your job or your salary more important to you? |
I mean is there a wage limit you wouldn't go under, even if the job was more interesting? would you do a job that paid more even if it wasn't exactly what you loved to earn more for yourself/family? |
|

am i who i am
|
i would rather do what i enjoyed then what i had to do to pay the bills, but luckily i do what i enjoy pay bills and got money left over. unfortunately everones not that lucky |

That is what I am doing right now. I don't really care for my job, but it pays the bills and supports my family. |

I would take a lower-paying job if it enabled a better lifestyle, but there is a certain salary I wouldn't go under. I'm married and have a mortgage, so I've got financial needs to be met.
I'm more likely to work my *** off in the short term if I think it will allow me an early retirement later on. |

we are a money oriented society, we tend too measure everything we do by how much we make.
some people will even destroy themselves in an effort too get more money.
because soo many of us are not able too see the difference between need and want, a lot of people make the mistake off seeing something they want as being something they need.
money is the necessity of life but it doesnt have too be the root of your existence.
i have worked at both end of the spectrum, i have worked in a manufacturing job that paid me $10.00 an hr and i have worked a a chinese food delivery driver.
sure the manufacturing job paid a lot more than the delivery job, but it flat out sucked always being pressured too produce, wondering if i got this or that product right or if i was going to be fired for not being able to make time standards for a particular product.
the delivery job i got $4.35 an hour plus tips, somedays my tips were pretty good and other days i got zilch.
but i loved meeting people i got all kinds of things offered to me for tips, tickets too sports games and other live events.
people that i became friends with because they were regular customer's abd often asked for me by name.
i loved that job, but i was often behind in utility payments sometimes had too make arrangements with my apartment manager for late payments.
the cost of keeping my car in good shape...which is why i lost the job, i couldnt afford too repair the axel and cvc joint .
but it was the best job i ever had.
so for me its alll about being happy with what you do.
even if your keeping a family, it can be hard with less money but childeren dont need money or things to make them happy , they just neeed to know that mommy and daddy will be with them through thick and thin.
i think its when you have a family that you really begin too see the difference between need and want!!!
( i know there is a spell checker, but it is taking too long.) |

Most people work to live, not live to work. That's what I do - work to buy groceries, pay the bills, put gas in the car, etc. You know, just live. There's all kinds of things I can think of that I would rather do, but since doing them won't let me live (at least, not in the style to which I, and my family, have become accustomed) I am staying where I am, and continue to work so I can continue to live.
Hope this helps. |

I couldn't do a job I didn't like for very long, even with very good pay. I could take a slight pay cut if I really enjoyed it, but not too much of one! Good pay and enjoyable job is perfect, rather than excellent pay/hate job or rubbish pay/loving job. |

Well as of now. I am a college student, I got a great seasonal job that paid me more than I have ever been paid in the past. I would like to not go below that. But post college, I would want a career (something I love) that can make me alot of money doing in the mean time. |

My professional identity constitutes a part of me as a person in a way that my financial status doesn't. So my job is more important. No matter how much money people get they always want more so might as well be happy that you can afford the things you need, which I can. |

I learned a long time ago, "If it ain't fun, don't do it" so it would have to be job.
To rxing....a title is only good if you can put it in the bank, a lower wage for a title is not a good move. |
|

rxing
|
money is more important unless it was a job with a higher title and a LITTLE less wage then I would take the title. |

If I won the lottery I would become a film extra. I don't know how much it pays but I don't think I could live on the wages from that alone. I know I'd love it though and wouldn't care it the pay was below minimum wage. |

WWJD: What Would Joker Do?
|
Hello Ellie.
My stance on the matter is do vvith vvhat you have. Do not labor for materials you vvant, as all materials perish. VVhen you die, you don't take any materials vvith you.
Have you ever noticed vvhen you vvanted something so bad, then put it aside once you had received it. All that vvanting for nothing.
Some people live to vvork and some vvork to live. It is society vvhich causes people to labor the vvay people do. They labor to be able to better civilisation--to make life easier. There is alvvays a dravv-back to that.
Say machinary does their iob; there vvould need to be people to operate, control and repair the machines. A division: some vvould labor, fixing and operating, other vvould not vvhere machine vvould do their iob. But it vvould cause them to look for another iob so they could have an income. Life vvould be easier for some but not for others.
Some people vvould labor more than others, vvhere life vvould be better for those vvho labor less vvhile receiving more vvages than those vvho labor more. This vvould affect their vvork life and their personal life. Say you tell a friend you get 20/hr. doing something easy, vvhile your friend makes minimum vvage or a little more. And say he/she has bills to pay, children to feed, a vvife/husband he/she vvants to buy her/him things, in the mean time you go out every night enioying your life, being much younger, do not need to use as much money as your friend. This vvould make him/her not vvant to vvork there any more and slack off at vvork, and also cause social problems betvven the both of you. That vvould make life, actual living experience, harder for both, because life is about *everything* that you go through, be it at vvork or in the home. To make life easier for all vve vvould all have to vvork equally in all parts and aspects of life. Not everyone is on the same level, and not everyone can catch up or even keep up.
Then agian, vvhat makes civilisation better? Making people to feel too relaxed to the point they become lazy? Or is it to be as advanced as possible in all technology, in skills, in knovvledge and understanding?
Does this matter? I say this because no matter vvhat level, there seems to alvvays be a division. There seems to alvvays be problems, conflicts, disagreements. If vve cease problems, vvould that make for a better society? In my opinion, yes, but hovv could vve do so? Maybe vve naturally need problems in order to further develop. Moreover, there are people that vvould vvant conflict, and bring about same. And if vve cease conflict, vvould it return? But this has nothing nothing to do vvith civilisation and society, this has to do vvith life.
Before vve had civilisations vve still had problems. After civilisation there can still be problems. So to better society is not to better life--but to better life is to better society as that takes part in life.
To ansvver you question if a iob or salary is more important to me, it is neither. It profiteth me none in the after-life. I can keep neither. VVhat matters is not the iob or salary but vvhat and hovv you do and use same. But given the circumstances of others being dependant of you, and it satisfieth you to fill their needs, then do the iob vvhich is able to fulfill this. It is life that is the more important.
I hope this helps ansvver your question, even though I added a lot of extras.
Take care.
Iohn 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Matthevv 6:25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. |
