It's not yours.
Turn it over to the police. It's possible it can be traced and returned to the proper owner.
For you to even consider keeping and/or spending it is WRONG.

That could be someones life savings, you have an obligation to take it to the police, after 30 days the money is yours if not claimed anyway, if you don't, you will be always looking over your shoulder |

If you put it in the bank and it has been stolen or reported stolen, then you will be accountable - you may be accused of doing the crime, handling the goods or laundering the money. As someone has suggested, if you hand it into the Police, if no-one claims it then its yours.
If it is a criminal - there are not going to go and get it from the Police Station are they?
And if it is collected, you may get a reward or some good Karma will come your way...
If I lost £2500, I would appreciate someone giving it back - wouldn't you? |

turn it into the cop shop, they will take all your details and contact you if it is not claimed after 6mth i think. to be honest I dont think anyone in their right mind would report it to the police because they would think it was stolen and kept by some low life.
if it is claimed, the person who it belongs to may reward you. If they dont. at least you know you did the right thing.
think how you would feel if you lost that amount and someone kept it. |

You could turn it in to the police departnment if your concious is getting to you. If someone claims it you may get a reward, but you may not. The police will give you the money after 2 months or so if it has not been claimed. |

Thanks for finding it, I wondered where I had left it. |

Banks have an automatic system to judge for unusually large deposits into accounts to stop money laundering.
I don't know if £2500 is enough for them to get worried about- i don't know what your income is but i'd spend the money and let your normal income accumulate. |

If you really want to keep it and you feel bad about doing so...then give a portion of it to charity and be done with it.
I could use $5000 extra right now, so that is what I would do.
good luck good person.
p.s. usually if you have to ask, it means you already know the answer. but I told you what I would do. |

keep quite about it!! and just spend it a bit at a time as you would your normal income. If you want to treat youself in a few months time your wages will still be in the bank |
