I am a single mother of a one year old son. I am a fulltime student and also work parttime. My son does not know me because I am constantly on the go. I am scheduled to graduate in May of 2008 and will be able to spend more time with my son. However, if anyone out there can help me figure out a way to still pay for school and my bills while getting to spend more time with my son it will be greatly appreciated and I will be so thankful to you. I am missing the most important time in his life but if I want to provide for him I have to do this. |

I applaud you for wanting to spend more time with your son, as well as working towards graduating.
The young years are crucial in laying the foundation, and you are right, you must keep the necessities, food, shelter, and clothing.
Now...there ARE a lot of home-based businesses, you can see from the number of responses of people asking you to contact them privately.
But maybe you can use your degree to your benefit, and be a contractor.
There is also a large need for virtual assistants.
You do all the work from the comfort of your home and set your own hours.
Your lifestyle may be more simple, and you may not have a lot, but always keep in mind the necessities versus the luxuries.

Look for assistance from your local, state, and federal governments, like WIC. Loose the job. Get student loans or grants. It's probably too late now, you should have done these when you first got pregnant, they take time. Props to you for trying, though. Time with your child is priceless. |

Apply for child support and other benefits (food stamps, specifically) and/or medicaid. Depending on the state in which you live, cooperating with child support enforcement (they will establish paternity if needed and get an order for support and provide enforcement if he doesn't pay) may be required before you can get benefits without being sanctioned. Have you thought about trading on Ebay etc. Drop shipping a product works really well if you have the right business partner to buy from.
Develop your own product or service ? Create a list of what you are passionate about, what you have a lot of knowledge about, something people may come to you for advise on. Then locate a niche market "A group of people who are searching the internet for a solution to a problem and NOT finding many relevant results" There are plenty of ways to do research on this.
Become an affiliate and earn commission by recommending someone else’s product. This is something that is really working well for us at the moment.

find a program suited for his age that also requires you to participate in the class; you will both be learning and have quality time together. look into your community resouces, they should have some kind of program like this; i hope this suggestion helps you. they also may have some way of to help you pay for the cost if you cannot afford it youself. |

There are programs out there for Single Moms have you tried contacting your school to see if they have any loans available? THe only thing is that the assistance is not immediate...with government programs as well....you can try going on 211.com to see what they have avialable to you.
