Never ever waste anything. If it is food - eat it all - even if you have leftovers twice in a row. Buy only clothes that have multiple use as for everyday and for work and to go out. Limit amount of things (stuff) especially jewlrey and shoes. A few exceptional pieces will suffice. Exceptional as in flash for the amount of cash. Cash spent does not the shoe make. Make lists to save time and travel for everything. Order store stops and purchases in advance. Eat before shopping for food. Exercise on a regular basis helps with everything - even a budget if you can believe it. Oh - there is that word - budget. A simple one actually works. I spend $ for home $ for water, gas, electricity, cable, credit card, etc on a list each month where you check when payment is made. A lined notepaper helps make this a no-work issue of columns you check each month. Then you know the exact amount left each month after expenses and can set a maximum spent per week for other things. Then you take some of that amount and put to savings - even if it is only $5 per week. Then you try to spend less each week so if you want a special trip or something you have the extra in reserve. As you get good at this you can save more. Just remember that you never waste anything. You should be down to one (one) (1) kitchen size trash bag per week in garbage. Tear up and crush boxes, etc and put in trash = remember one bag per week shows you are at maximum savings. I am up to $80 per month held back in reserve and can fly off on vacation at any time. If you master this we can go together as friends. Oh and never ever dig in your purse for loose change when paying. Save your change each and every day into a zip-lock bag = remember we are on a budget - and in a year you should have an extra $100 mad money. I give mine away to the most deserving person in my life as when you give = you get back in some way that is much better than losing a little change. And - In some instances I can be the most deserving and spend it on myself. Most often not, but that can happen. Give to best in friendship - best in providing help to others - best in schoolwork - etc. Good luck and lets get that money under control. This really takes almost no effort. |

1) Think twice before you buy impulse items (wait a couple of days, most likely you will conclude you do not need it).
2) Pay in cash. Dishing out the green feels more real than simply charging the expense.
3) Take lunch to work or school.
4) Avoid eating out. Cook your meals. Freeze what you cannot eat right away.
5) Wash your car.
6) Document all your expenses on a spreadsheet, no matter how small. Include your savings. Compare against your income. At the end of each month you will identify what expenses you could have avoided.
7) Pay your bills automatically online. This will save you the 0.42 stamp and the late fees. |

At the start of the month, write a budget for that month. Start with your income for the month and subtract EVERYTHING you will spend for the month. At the bottom of the page, the balance should be ZERO. Every time you spend anything, subtract the amount from the correct category in your budget. If you run out in any category, your choices are: a) stop spending in that category, or b) decide to transfer money from another category. It will take a few months to get your budget down, but you will be deciding how to spend your money instead of wondering where it went. |

Set yourself a weekly budget and aim to underspend by 10%. Put that in a savings account. Set the next week slightly lower and again aim to underspend by 10%. You'll reduce your spending and have a reward all at once! |

There are countless ways of saving money. The most important thing is to adopt a new philosophy! Be frugal in all your affairs and you will save money. |

I used to spend a lot more than I do now, and I felt like half the time, I didn't even end up using what I had purchased.
My best tip is just to ask yourself, am I REALLY going to use this item? Or is it just going to take up space in my apartment? If you're still thinking about it a few days later, you can always go back and get it.
Eating out is another great area to watch- getting Starbucks every morning will run you about a thousand dollars a year! Egad! |

In addition to saving my loose change, I'm careful about running my errands. I always think twice before running to the store for a single purchase. I try to plan my timing and route for errands and appointments so that I can make the most in one trip.
I like to think I'm helping the environment as well as my wallet.
Also, I rarely buy clothing, shoes, household appliances, etc. unless they're on sale. |

I save pennies in a coffee can,i never use to save them cause i thought they weren't worth much but they are worth something if you save alot of them.Have you ever tried locking your money up or making envelopes and writing on them for what the money can be spent on?I do it and it works. |

Pay yourself an allowance. Set a weekly amount on what you will allow yourself to spend on personal expenses. My husband and I have 20.00 each every week. We take it out in cash and put away our checkbook and cards, etc. If we spend it all in one day......it's over. We try to spread it out over the week.
Anything beyond that must go toward a bill, so we pay as much on our bills before we take our allowance. If you don't have bills, switch the money into a separate savings account, promise not to touch that account for an allotted amount of time. |

You said little so heres a very little way haha.
Save your change! I know it does not sound like much but it really works. If you see a penny or a nickel save it. A dime save it. Put it in a jar or somthing and it will really add up fast, trust me. I saved all my change and in about 6 months had about $40. I know it doesnt seem like much but considering it started out as a penny that may have been seen as useless.
Then putting all that change you saved up into savings I think is also a good idea. |

Eating in at least twice a day....save from having meals outside/take outs. I usually have my breakfast and dinner at home....it does save a lot and much healthier. |
