i have $13.30 in my bank account. my bank account stays low because i'm always paying rent, bills, necessities, and right now, trying to go into business for myself but sometimes i feel so ashamed that my bank account is so LOW all the time and other times i check my account and i laugh because really - who is about something who only has $13.30 in their bank account ?? its just embarrassing and funny at the same time.
but i wondered, am i the only person whose bank account stays low even when they TRY to save money?

Nope. You are in good company. I usually have less than $100 in my account every month because my parents help me pay for groceries and a few bills. |

I know how you feel man. Don't feel bad, i use to be like you. Mine was always like $5. I felt like a homeless bum and stuff. Even the homeless can pandhandle for more that $13 a day. I'd see people's receipts be up to 1000s like you did, but hey it'll turn around sooner or later. Just think positive thoughts. What's more embarrasing is when I use to walk into the bank and face a teller and withdraw $20 and they'll give me a reciept back for like $5. That's hella embarrassing. But that's the reality, people can laugh all the want about your joke bank account. Things will turn out fine if you pay things off on time and etc. |

At least you have a good attitude about it and don't go in the red. I also laugh at my bank account balance sometimes. I'm a single working woman who has to pay for mortgage and other bills. But I see my home as an investment. At least we're thinking of the future. You, trying to start your own business. If you apply for a loan in the future, they will look at your bank balance and other assets so try leaving more money in your account when the time comes. My Waterloo is shopping and credit cards so I decided to take up another hobby. Now, I try to learn foreign languages because you never know what life will bring. |

actually mine used to go -ve until i got sick and tired of being broke. i decided to change my money habits and this is where i'm at now
$299.13 checking account (today my car needs 260 in repairs-sucks!)
$2000 in an emergency fund
$9600 saved for 6 months expenses (i live in the mid-west)
$1400 in credit card debts -was $13000 about 2yrs ago (next month i will pay this off i want to be debt free)
my next goal after that is to start retirement savings fund and a save for a good downpayment on a home
i credit dave ramsey. u can google for his radio show times - best advice i ever received on money. |

thanks for giving me company. i earn in indian rupees, and $13.3 = Rs. 555.30
the minimum balance needed to operate an account is Rs. 250, and i am loosing count of thenumber of times i have had to request the bank teller to overdraw my account, and give me 100 out of the 250.
and where does my money go: transport, taxes, electricity bills, food bills, water bills, communications, house rent, .............................. hey i need a new job. no?? |

Don't feel bad at all. Let me put something in perspective for you. You may think that your bank account is low, but at least you HAVE a bank account to begin with. Be thankful that it's low, and not overdrawn, closed down, sent to collections and placed on the C.M.W (Chexsystems Most Wanted) list. Once you're there, it's like a death penalty to your finances. It's hard to get a savings account, much less a checking account. You're forced to get money orders to pay for everything, as far as getting credit? Forget it. If you compare what you're going through to what I just mentioned, it should be in a much better perspective for you. |

My bank account is low to i checked it today and i had like $20.00 in it then i bought like $10.86 worth of junk so....atleast we are not in the negative yet LOL. I tell my b/f all the time lets save but like you said we always have bills to pay or something happens to one of the vehicles it really sucks |
