It varies from bank to bank, and also on what kind of account you're opening. Most basic checking accounts can be opened with very little money. Many savings accounts require $50 or more, although at a credit union you can usually open a savings account with $5 or so. If you're interested in opening an account, I would call any banks you're thinking about using or check their websites for the minimums. |

In the United States a credit union will normally allow you open an account with a very small deposit especially if you are very young. Maybe $10 or $25.
A bank may require $100 or even $500 or more as a beginning deposit. |

There are two different types of bank accounts 'Savings' and 'current'
Most banks will allow you to open up a savings account with a £1, access is given to you by form of as cash card, were you can draw cash from cashpoints if there is enough funds in your account to meet your request.
Current Accounts (Accounts which you are given a cheque book and a debit card) will require you to be working and having your salary paid direct into the account. |

It is acceptable for you to open an account with as little as £1 from quite alot of banks now some £5. I know with HSBC its £1. Hope this helps x |

If you don't know what bank you are with I wouldn't put any money in or you won't know where to go to take it out!
Bank accounts vary. as do institutions, they each have there own conditions,it is possible to open an account with £1. |
