ask for a raise and stop spending

Get rid of or leave at home all bank card including credit and debit. Set yourself a budget and then go to the bank and take that money out every week or two weeks, statistics show that people are less likely to spend money if its cash in their pocket because they think about it more than using a debit card and not seeing the money come out. This will help with your spending habits and your savings. Have your work take out an automatic savings deduction into a savings account at another bank like 10% so thats its more difficult for you to dip into your savings because youll be less likely to go to another bank to get money out just to go out to dinner or make a last minute purchase decision. Try to think of want versus need. Try to think of the bigger picture when making purchases.

Pay all your bills first than spend whatever is left only after you put some aside in a savings

You need to put away 10% of your income into an emergency fund. I know it sounds like a lot, but if you get a few weeks where you can't work and you need that money to survive, it'll be worth it.

There's no such thing as a 'spending problem'. If you can't stop yourself spending money, leave your wallet at home.

Always take your own lunch with you, and make extra sandwiches and freeze them. Then you have no excuse not to take your own lunch to work, and you'll save heaps.

If you're renting an apartment, can you get a flatmate to cut the costs? That would stretch your money further.

Go to your employers and get them to put 10% of your income into an account that you don't touch. That is your emergency money. If you reduce your available income, your spending should drop as well.

Don't go to malls, shopping centres, and other places where you're inclined to waste money. Budget for nights out and meals out with friends. This will save you from blowing your budget when you're expected to go out.

If you limit your spending to cash (no atm or credit cards) then you have a concrete limit on your spendng. If you're going out to the pub, take only enough for a few drinks and a shared cab ride home. If you're going to the supermarket, set a time limit and follow a list. Then you can't waste time and spend on extra stuff you don't need.

Set yourself up for success, and you'll stop spending.

Best wishes

Try to be more resourceful. Shop at the Dollar Tree, or thrift stores. Try to only buy clothes when you need to. Buy cheaper ingredients at the grocery store, then use them to cook meals yourself instead of eating fast food or TV dinners. And if you can, try to find a better job.

The only way to fix it is to track what you spend. Keep every receipt if necessary, or use credit card bills and bank statements to see what you're spending. I've found that if you add up all your monthly expenses and your income, and see that you can then forecast the month and year when you will be homeless, that tends to help encourage you to spend less.

Once you've done that, the best way to save is to use a zero-budget system. Take all your income and divide it up, whether you will spend it or save it, and don't exceed the amounts you've allocated.
