The electric bill unless you want your sick kid to go without fresh food and hot water. You can always run to a neighbors when you need to dial 911. And then I would cancel the internet and get off of the computer and get a job and take care of my kid. |

The electricity bill of course. You should always be able to call 911 in emergencies, and you need electricity, whereas a phone is not as necessary. |

The electric bill. If you have a sick child at home you'll need it more. If there is an emergency you can always dial 911 from any phone even if you do not have service on it. |

I disagree with prior posters.
You should FULLY pay your phone bill. And PARTIALLY pay your electric bill.
Why?
Because the phone company has more legal mandates, taxes, fees, etc. If you miss too many phone bills they can (and will) turn off your phone. During this, they will charge you fees. To reactivate it, they will charge you fees. At the end of the day, your fees will be quite high.
The eletric company is less likely to impose larger fees. And if you pay them partially (say $10 or $20), then you can prove that you are making an effort. They will not turn off your electric because of it.
Also, some states / cities have mandates about not turning off electric.
If money is tight, you might want to seek local governmetn assistance, especially if you have kids. There are programs for helping you in times like this.
Lastly, depending on how sick your child is, you don't want to loose the ability to dial 911. If you have no phone, you have no 911.

I would investigate getting a Tracfone and getting rid of the phone. You pay as you go and you cannot live without electricity. The phone company has more taxes, surcharges, and unexplained fees than any other bill I have seen. I've had it with them and I do not miss those bills. |

You need the electric, the phone is a luxury. You may even be able to borrow a cell phone from a friend or family member to make an emergency call if needed. You cannot borrow electric. |
