From the usps.com site:

"Replacement of Lost or Stolen Money Orders
To replace a lost or stolen money order, a customer will need to fill our Form 6401 at a Post office and pay a fee of $5.00. After the USPS completes a payment inquiry on the status of the money order, a replacement can be issued."

More info here:

I think you are out of luck. They give the stub as receipt, but you said you lost it. Sorry.

manidalisa
If you kept your receipt or money order check stub, you might be able to go to the place where you bought the actual money order and see if they can track it and see if it's been cashed or not and possibly refund you your money, but just to let you know, it might take up to like 3-4 months before you even get your money back.

I work at a credit union and it happens alot.

So you're kinda SOL.

Non-refundable, if you still had it you would know that.

I am assuming that all the pieces were still together, as in the stub that you keep, after you fill it all in. IF you still have the stub of the money order, you can go back to the post office and ask them to put a stop cash out on it. this will stop the person getting it to cash it. If that doesnt work, you will still need to go back to the post office and tell them what you told us and that you want to put a stop payment on it. It would be very helpful, it you could remember the last three or four digits of the money order so the post office can still help you. If not, you are out of that money. Reason why I know, I used to work out of a place that printed out money orders, and the store had stop payment forms to help out. But since it has been a week, you probably will need to get another money order for $100.

the same thing happen to me. U have to report a claim on it a
hopefully it was made out and had your name already on it. But it cost $3.00 to file it then it can take up to 6 weeks to prove that u lost it and then u will get your money back, but ifs its already been cashed somewhere they cant do anything..

BJ Freeman
the receipt is proof of ownership. without it you can not claim a loss.
sorry.

As long as you have the copy (that is attached to the money order when you buy it) you will get a full refund. But it might take 6 weeks or so.

Sorry to say but without the stub your S.O.L. :(

Jeanette
most money orders are only valid for 90 - 120 days... IF it doesn't get cashed, you could receive a refund... ( do you have proof of purchase? )

rosecolured
I hate to agree with everyone else, but you are a bit out of luck. :( Good luck on getting a hold of your wallet--I know how it is to be broke--so hopefully tihs wasn't your only means of dinero.
