There is a lot of information missing. It is hard to give advise to anyone without the proper info.

The best thing you can do is find a Financial Advisor. This can be an Accountant, CPA, or someone who is an Accreditated Financial Advisor.

Be very careful who you pick. Most of the Non-Profit Orgs. that advertise on TV are rip-offs. The take donations and put them on your credit cards. This usually puts you in much more debt than before seeing them.

One of the most important thing you need is education in handling your own impulses. There are many books, available at the library, that can help. This will require some effort on your part, if you are really serious about changing.

One very good book that helped me change my way of thinking is called "RICH DAD, POOR DAD".

Your problem is one that requires you to change your own bad habits. Like Alcoholics and Drug Addicts, you won't correct this problem until you are ready and want it bad enough.

If you are looking for the easy fix it doesn't exist. No one can change your bad habits. They can advise you, but can't change you.

The easiest way is to 'pay yourself first' by having automatic withdrawals from your check into a savings account, or from your checking account into a mutual fund. Give yourself an allowance for 'stuff' out of each paycheck. When that's gone, you have to wait until the next payday. Get rid of your ATM card. This makies it more difficult to get money from your bank account (gotta' go when they're open, which ain't that often).

Common Sense
There is a great term in investing, it's called "Pay Yourself First".

Every month I have www.GMACBank.com draw money from my checking account. I have an account for my next car purchase, vacation fund and general savings. It's similar to what's done with 401K's.... Bottom line, you don't have quick access to the money & you're rewarded with a new car, vacation etc.

Good luck!
(and BTW; You do have more control over your life than you admit... push yourself... you know what's best for you. Do it (and if you can't... find out why you can't or your future will suffer).................... You can change (unless you're determined not to)........... (I did)!

Line your pockets with asbestos. make a reward system for saving. Think of something special you'd like, and keep putn aside a little each day until you can get it.

Put it in an account that you cannot to uch for a period of time. Or, have them take more out of your check for taxes and then get a huge return. I find if the money is not in my account, I feel like I dont have it and then in the end of the year i get a nice big sum to spend on something i need or want.

I keep all my coins in a jar. Once a month, I cash it all in at one of those Coinstar's. I then use it to pay my cell phone bill or go to the casino.

This is very hard to do but one way to discipline yourself is to loose all the money you have and later you will learn the hard way to how to save every penny possible. I could not save any money for myself all these years but in one-and half years I worked and worked and saved 20,000 dollars. I have still no car, living in a smallest room in a shared housing, working for a pizza place for 9.00 per hour eat food for free at work and walk for 45 minutes to work and so on.I hope this will help you.

Some bank or investment accounts have an option to automatically transfer money from your checking account each month. Look up "online savings", or check out Vanguard or Fidelity.

You could buy silver or gold bullion. You get to "spend" your money and collect a valuable commodity. Only buy bars or rounds that say .999 for silver and .9999 for gold.

I used to buy a bond every-time I cashed my check
It locks the money into paper but if ya need it bad its right there

Some of the most effective ways I've found include:

1) Put loose bits of Paper money (e.g. 5's & 10's) aside, such as inside a book you don't read often (but only if kept in a bookshelf in your own room)...... then forget about them. I'm always finding them again just when I think I'm totally broke :)

2) Pay for everything in paper money, throw the loose change in your sock drawer... you wouldn't believe how much it builds up.

3) invest some of it on either Bonds or a Sharebuilder account (Sharebuilder.com in the US, Halifax bank in the UK).

4) Read Fool.com / Fool.co.uk for regular tips

5) Stick a chunk of it in a savings account.

6) Avoid credit cards like you would the plague.

7) Make sure you've got an overdraft facility on your main bank account..... if you've got an overdraft and go overdrawn, you'll just get charged a little bit of interest on it... if you go overdrawn without an overdraft, the bank will screw you with a big (£28 in my case) fine for going overdrawn..... then just when you've got your account straight from that they'll screw you with another fine because their previous fine put you over drawn again (and that'll pretty much continue until they've screwed you out of nearly £200 / $200).

Look into advice by professionals in that field through googling such info, I doubt any help presented here regarding such issues will be of actual/better value.
