Well, maybe just some advice. I am a mother of 3, all under the age of 12, and like everyone has at one time or another, i'm sure, i'm having some financial difficulty right now. Long story on why, but here is the dilemma, I LITERALLY have $50 until next Friday. How am I going to do it? Any ideas on cheap meals? I need to use some of the money for gas, I HAVE to work. My credit is shot, can't get a loan, and have no family willing to lend to me. Serious answers only please, I already feel crappy enough. |

Tuna Helper is really cheap, you can feed the whole family for like seventy cents. Bologna sandwhiches, and grilled cheese are cheap too. Ramen noodles, and spagetti are cheap especially if you buy the storebrand tomato sauce in a can (its less than a dollar). Good Luck!
If its this tight you could look for a charity that will help with the groceries in your area, we have a few that offer discounted groceries and free groceries, you don't always get to pick the food but its food. Or perhaps apply for public assistance until your in a better position. |

Food bank and look in your cupboards for anything you could eat even if you don't love it. A can of pumpkin or cranberry sauce may not be something you want but it you own it you could eat it.
If you could send the kids to their father or grandparents for the weekend that is a few days of less people to feed. Pancakes from scratch, noodles, dry beans or split peas.
Sell something on Craig's list or return something you bought to a store if you didn't open it.
See if you can land a job delivering pizza or babysitting this weekend earning $20 would be a big help. |

It seems as if people already have the perfect answers. Mac & Cheese, sandwhiches, Ramen soup, and so on.
The dollar store/family dollar etc. have cheap things. Do you have an "Aldi's" where you live? My bf and I eat for 2 months on $85.00 worth of food from Aldi's, so you can imagine how much we can get for our money. To make some extra money you could babysit (at your house) on the weekends. An extra $40.00 or so probably wouldn't hurt. Oh my bf and I eat a lot of cereal as well, not the $3.99 a box. We usually pay $1.99 for a no-name-brand which tastes the same as the name brands.

Make a cheap curry and stretch it with rice. Rice is cheap and filling. Take some in a plastic container to work with you for lunch.
Soup is also cheap. Buy some cheap powdered stock and some very cheap vegetables (try a green grocer instead of the supermarket, it might be cheaper). You can stretch soup with some bread and butter. Neither soup nor curry NEED meat, so use some chickpeas or lentils. They're very filling, and full of protein. Make a big batch, and stretch it with rice and lentils or chickpeas. You can live on this for a few days (soup one night, curry the next). Make some cheap sandwiches for the kids for lunches.
Pasta is also good. You can buy generics. A can of tomatos, an onion, and a bag of pasta is heaps of food. So what if you have to eat the same thing for a few days?
Go through the cupboard, and see what you have. Then get on the internet and google those ingredients for recipes.
$20 should feed you all til next week if you're careful. No luxuries. If your kids complain, let them go hungry. They'll soon eat what you make.
I earn $377 Aus a week. $200 of that goes on my homeloan. I live on curry and pasta and cheap sandwiches, eat very little meat, carpool when I can, and pay all the bills out of my pay. Its really hard, but if you're motivated, you can do it. |

Hopefully you have some type of discount grocery store in your area like an Aldi's or Shop and Save or Save a Lot that is not too far out of the way. Do your shopping there if possible. I have lived off of Ramen noodles, pigs in a blanket, spaghetti, and grilled cheese sandwiches for months at a time due to my finances. Pinto beans is another good option, if your kids would eat them. It's tough but you and your kids will make it through. Good luck! |

You have kids so nutrition is important. I think eggs, bread and potatoes are a good option. even 1 egg a day can do a child good.. Else noodles could work, but hardly any nutrition. another option is rice if you can get a good deal. And just by the way... when your financial condition is better.. read a book called "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne... its changed our lives and i hope it does yours too. Borrow it.. or buy it.. but please read it .. Wish you all the very best! |

you already got your answers. my only advice is for you to start drawing up a budget. and don't try and keep this from your kids as they need to know whats going on in order for them to help you make the $50 sustain you till friday and for them to learn from this situation. if you know of some soup kitchens you could also go there. i hope you get through this. |

I have been there, no kids, but I bought a loaf of bread and made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and ate alot of Ramen noodles. Maybe you could check into a pay day loan |

I would $10-15 in your car for gas, then go to wal mart and get some cheap frozen pizza's and some milk. Stay home all week and do not go out lol.....I've had $50 to my name before but never with 3 children, I am sorry. It's times like these when u really want to punch a no good ex husband in the face!!! |
