They were legally obligated to give you that form on Jan 31st.
I would threaten him with reporting him to the IRS if he didn't cough it up, but I am the type who would not put up with that kind of thing from my friends.
Likely that you are an "off the books" person if they aren't giving you a W2, so you will have to deal with that somehow. |

Legally they HAve to give it to you and i believe it was by January 31st I would demand it if they still will not give it to you id be calling the irs friend or not you need to be able to file your taxes in the appropriate time frame so you dont get penalized |

THE LAW SAYS ALL W2 FORMS HAVE TO BE SENT OUT BY JANUARY 31ST. IF YOU KEEP WAITING, YOU COULD MISS THE IRS DEADLINE FOR FILING TAXES AND BE SUBJECT TO PENALTIES AND FINES.

Why are you asking this question now? Your friend was suppose to given your W-2 no later then Jan. 31 and taxes are almost due. Turn him in and report him to the IRS. |

Put him on the spot. Tell him point blank, "Look. We're friends and you're putting me in a bad situation here. I need my W2 form TODAY. I cant afford to get in trouble with the IRS and I cant let our friendship put me there. If you are my friend, I need my W2 form TODAY!"
If he says "later" or puts it off in any way remind him he is already risking problems with the IRS because he failed to meed the Jan 30th deadline for sending out the W2's. |

Good luck with asking the IRS for help. My husband has yet to receive his W-2's from his employer. He contacted the IRS and they wrote a letter to the employer of which his employer stated he did not work for them in 2006 (meanwhile he was stationed in Honduras for 3 weeks and was hospitalized!!) Needless to say the IRS said they are just the mediator they can not "make" anybody give you your W-2's and you solely responsible to estimate your taxes. So much for the IRS being a place you can turn to make an agency abide the law.

Turn that hoe in. He can't withhold your W2 you can sue him and the company if he don't give it to you, or if he gives it to you and you can't fill it out and turn it in on time. |
