He owes it to the government. His ex-wife was receiving child support for 3 children all of whom are over 20. The money is owed, only because it was used...So the government is demanding it. |

No I don't know of anyone or institute that would loan money to someon who could make monthly payments on the child support & arrears.
Make payments on time every month and they can not do anything else to you.
they will try to scare you into coming up with the total but if you can only make the monthly payment then do it timely.
also keep good records of all your payments |

That's what happens when you are a dead beat dad. He didn't just get $140,000 behind in a month - it has taken years. He could have been paying something $100 - No one is going to loan him the money - he needs to work 2-3 jobs and pay the money. |

the reality is he'll probably not ever pay off such a debt, but he'll be making monthly payments.If he has time spent with the child then usually the courts will grant him time spent, thus reducing the monthly amounts owed to either the mother, or to the county if the mom is on government assistance.Sometime the county will cut some slack if ther is a lump some that dad is willing to pay. |

I don't know about getting a loan, but I do know your father needs to get in touch with the agency he owes the money to. If not they have the option of freezing any financial accounts he may have open and putting a lien on any property he owns. It's a lot harder to come up with money when they freeze up accounts and you can't get to it. As far as he wouldn't owe the money if his ex wouldn't have accepted money from the government...how did he think HIS children were eating? The money had to come from somewhere. It's just sad that it didn't come from him in the first place. The government always gets their money one way or the other so dad needs to get off his butt and handle his business. |

i have never heard of such a thing.. child support is usually deducted from pay checks or taxes.
If he doesnt have it. they will jail him for a bit and then let him out and just keep hounding him to pay it... then the sycle will continue
if he doesnt have money to pay the child support how is he gonna pay a loan??? i dont think most states want it all in one lump sum... but i dunno about where you live.....
or he could move to another state so they couldnt get him for child support... or he could quit his joba dn get a job that pays under the table cash so he doesnt get it reported... just one of the many ways of avoidign the legal system |

This is the sad truth. That money is owed. Is he paying that money and to whom? Is this amount from years of non-payment? How old are the children? Is anyone really demanding him to pay this off? Unless he has a equity in a house or some busines he could finance it that way even with poor credit, provided that he has sufficient income to service that debt. He can only approach an attorney for an opinion, that is about all he can do. You see being a parent bears a lot of responsibility. Even if he went to jail in most states that will not release him from that debt. That debt could only be mitigated by the court itself.
