My dad makes $325,000 per year...Am I RICH then?
He has to pay expenses for 4 people in our family.

We are still new at the whole being rich thing so what type of lifestyle do people w/ that much money have?

What mansions/houses and cars do they own? What types of clothes and technologies do they buy?

Your Dad has a large income......don't know about his liabilities......people seem to spend what they have........your Dad could be one payday away from bankruptcy and home foreclosure....just look around.....its happening to a lot of people....you son......sound like a pompous brat........if you have to ask you are far from being rich........

Entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. made over $50 million throughout his lifetime (so long ago that I doubt that you would know who he was), yet he died $15 million in debt. Learn how to be a good steward of money before you start making big plans about how to spend it. Because you come from a family that is somewhat well-off (no, I wouldn't say rich), you may find yourself in an enviable position when it comes to what you are able to do with your life - money will definitely expand your choices. You can continue to focus on things like cars and clothes and mansions, or you can choose to make something meaningful of your life.

Sadly, in this day and age $325,000 won't even buy you a regular-sized house in most of California. He isn't rich, he's just well-off. Be glad that he is, if he's nice he might pay for your college and not make you live off of loans.

And if he does decide to let you go nuts with his money be practical. Buy practical things. Flashy doesn't mean jack when when you go broke or your allowance is cut off, things that work do.

More importantly, if he gives you money, invest some of it!!!

Everyone says to invest and they say it for a good reason; it works.

Best of luck, hope the money doesn't go to any one's head. A nice person has real friends, a rich person has leeches.

Depends on where you live. In some parts of the nation, that type of income doesn't give you a wealthy lifestyle. And your dad might be the rich one. That doesn't travel down to YOU. Dad might decide to live a less expensive lifestyle and invest the extra monies for the future.

NO....

If his assets were making this then you would be comfortable, I know alot of people who earn this type of money and are neck deep in debt.

Its not what you earn but what you do with it.

personally, rich can be a pyscological thing. i have known many people who were in society & materialistic terms extremely poor, but never felt poor. they felt and acted just as someone who has very rich. i think if your basing it solely on $$$$ , then the definition of rich will vary . for many rich people, their money isnt enough, they always want more & more to keep up with the person or people above them. so i think it comes down to your life and how money affects you. if its what you base your happiness on, then a materialistic lifesetyle is probably what you will be after. if your happy no matter what, money or not then those things will not rent so much space in your head....hope that makes sense

I wouldn't say that a income of $325,000 a year is RICH. I might say you are a well doing upper middle class.
Top 1% of United States makes that much, so in a way you are considered rich.

However, rich can't be judged by how much you make alone, it depends more on how much your net worth is. If you make 325 grands with a net worth of 10 million dollar, I would consider that rich. If you want to be super rich, you should be making 1 million a year with at least 50 million in asset.

With that much money, you could have some good luxuries in your life. Your family might be able to afford a 1-2 million dollar home with 1-2 benz, bmw or audi, Few get aways a year, private school education etc.

My dad doesn't work any more however he has a good amount in asset. From what I know my dad is worth around 15 million dollar with no debt.
Things that my family has:
1. 2 million dollar home
2. couple of buildings (given out rents)
3. Mercedes S550 4 Matic, BMW X5
4. Designer Clothings (I usually wear Diesel, Seven Jeans, True Religion, D&G etc)
5. We have a 63' 50' 42' 40' screen LCD in our home with a home theatre
6. We have 2-3 get aways a year
