I would have thought if several over 18 year olds got off their backsides and earned even minimum wage, there would be enough to support a household if they pooled their money! |

You're all 18 and up and capable of getting jobs! I'm sure you'll be able to work somewhere if you really wanted to help, so get to it! |

if cutting the internet was the answer to getting out of poverty i would have done it years ago...however i am on dialup and only cost me ten dollars a month...and hey we all need a little spoiling in our lives...not to mention the kids in the house do need it for research for school...cutting the internet is not the answer...
if the kids who will be out of school this year do not plan on leaving for college then they should be out joining the rest of us in the working world...i don't care what the job is...need to help out the rest of the family...and even through school they can get a part time job...i had to do that w/ my family...i worked full time and went to HS full time...i gave 75% of my paycheck to my folks to help pay the bills...and i kept a B average...in times of trouble we must do what we have to in order to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table...i know times are really tough right now...and know first hand how hard it is to find stable work...but sometimes we have to swallow our pride and do things we don't want to...even if it is a cashier at a supermarket...your father is the soul provider of the family...he too needs to own up to himself as well as his family...there are many things you and your family can do...best to start at a family meeting and let it all out...even if it hurts...feelings spared are never feelings spared...i wish you and your family the very best in such a difficult situation...be well |

I think you all can be proud.......you've all stuck by dad....just as he has tried to stick by you.........if you all have finished school....stick together and do little jobs anywhere and everywhere you are needed until you save up enough to move up in this world. Nothing to be ashamed of........all the best. Pick a field of study you like and go for it, in the mean time! Good luck......and love mom and dad:)! |

open up a strip club, trust me it will make lots of money. even if you have to run it in your house and just by using family members, friends and neighbours, trust me people will pay BIG money to see stuff like that. also make sure its women stripping cause the guy strip clubs only attract some single middle aged ho bags, or frooty gay guys. you want big but booty shaking girls with big boobs who will bare it all for lots of money, trust me a year of that and you will never need welfare again. |

I hope that as a teen in high school, you work some sort of part time job to bring in money that you could use to buy some of your own clothes/personal items to relieve the burden on your family.
Do you know the root cause of your poverty? Some sort of mental/physical illness that prevents Mom/Dad from finding good paying jobs? It isn't all about education neccesarily. My parents never went to high school and they avoided debt and spent money frugally. |

Do all of you have jobs. Is your father the only one working? You can get a job and go to school. I am also talking about college too. You actually have a better chance of getting financial aid and grants for school if your at the poverty level. I would suggest that you get information from your guidance counselor at the local high school if you are graduated you can go to the local community college and get information.Don't write off college, if you aren't a strong student they have tutors available usually for free to help you. For financial aid hellp, You can fill out the FAFSA online. Its free and you just need your parents taxes and w-2 form. It is very easy to understand but again you could get help from the school with it if necessary. At the very least you all can get a job to help out with the bills. Another good career is working for the post office. You can take the exam to work for the post office. This is not a hopeless situation...it will just mean that you will all have to find a way to help out. |

Make the best of the situation, You say you all will be 18 soon are you all not able to work some type of job? Even if your not a CEO you can still make some type of income and get a little help from the government till you can advance enough to be a full fledged worker who supports themselves 100% unless, disabled. At 18 you should be looking out for your future not depending on daddy or mom to support you any longer, your old enough now to start making your own life one step at a time, Its scary but it wont kill you. I haven't heard of anyone dying for becoming an adult yet. |

UPS is currently hiring even though the economy is bad and they start off with good pay, I suggest you go to college since you, and your family is on welfare you would be eligible for large sums of finacial aid, often time a couple thousand dollars per semester. |

File bankruptcy..it pays off all of your debts, but you will have bad credit.
Also, apply for some kind of financial aid, such as www.fafsa.com
and get somone into school...you can get alot of money, from grants to scholarships....
Also, your mother/father should get a commercial licence at the DMV, with that, he/she can become a truck driver, they are always hiring. |

Well....You and about 1/2 of this world are in your shoes!!
Maybe your dad could go to like a Job Training Program and see what they have for him....Some of them programs will pay for the training for him.
Maybe if all of the kids who are 18 now..are still living at home should get jobs and help your family out. Even if they are low paying jobs, if everyone got one, it would even out to 1 income to pay bills and buy food!
They may not cancel all of the welfare..but I am sure they will reduce it..but the kids who are 18 may be eligible to apply for it themselves individually since they are 18...and also, the kids should go to college or get some on the job training as well through a program.
Talk to your case worker at the welfare office and see what everybody's options are!
Good Luck
