Prawns shouldn't hurt you unless you're allergic to them. If you're that paranoid about eating them, lay off them and tell your ob/gyn the next time you're in the office. He/she should ease your mind. |

don't worry too much about this. Generally pregnant ladies can eat anything that is not toxic during the pregnancy phase, and still are okay.
But my advice to you is to refrain from eating raw food all the time. That has a higher risk of bacteria accumulating on it. |

Should be OK, but you can check with your doctor if your worried.
A bit late to worry about it now as it's said and done.

It is advisable to avoid shellfish. If you do wish to eat prawns for example, buy them from a reputable source, pre-packaged and date-stamped, make sure they have been thoroughly cooked or eat them in a reputable restaurant.

hi, I wouldn't worry too much about this, if the prawns were fresh and fully cooked there shouldn't be a risk, the advice to avoid these is in case they are inadequately cooked and still containing any bacteria which would be killed off with thorough cooking. Guidelines during pregnancy say you should avoid shellfish, soft cheese and anything containing raw egg.
Your GP or Midwife should be able to advise you on this at your checkups and should have leaflets/literature available that will help.

were they raw? I wouldn't eat anything raw, and get yourself a book on pregnancy, or call the doc to confirm what diet choices to avoid. Anything eaten one time is going to be OK, but you should educate yourself on what is OK for the future. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for months, and one night I decided to just let loose, and drank myself into a stupor - of course the next week when the pregnancy test came up positive i thought for sure my drinking night would hurt the baby, but no. Moderation with most things is safe (I'm not saying to drink), so don't worry so much. |
