Make sure you've cancelled all credit cards and bank cards. You will need to get a new copy of your social security card (see link below) and a new driver's license. You can hope that the thief was just interested in your cash, but with all the identity theft nowadays, you can't be sure. You'll have to closely monitor you credit reports to make sure nothing suspect turns up. |

Step one - fill out a police report
Step two - call your bank and credit issuers to close your accounts and open new ones
Step three - call the credit reporting agencies and put a statement on your account that you need to be contacted at home before any new accounts are opened
Step four - contact the SSA and your state's DPS to get a new SSN and driver's license.
Step five - when you receive the new SS card, keep it in a safe place at home. There is NO need to carry your SS card with you.

Call the police, cancel all credit and checking accounts, alert the Social Security office, tell the license bureau......This happened to me once, and a week later my purse showed back up with no money or credit cards and they used all the money in my checking account.....No real big deal now, but just watch your statements for anything suspicious........ |

in first place call to your bank and let that they know you can stop all your credits and is the most important thing before that someone make a bad use of them in second place you need request for another SS card same for your driver license. |

More than likely, they took the cash and tossed the purse.
To be cautious, do the following:
Call your bank and tell them that your purse was stolen. They will take care of your debit card and checks.
Call your credit card companies. They will take care of your cards.
Contact the DMV. They will put out an alert.
Contact the 3 credit reporting agencies. |

As long as your financial accounts can't be charged, you should be OK. Usually they just want the cash.
This happens all the time, cancel your credit cards and get new ATM cards issued. If there were checks or a checkbook in there you might want to change your bank account number.
Get a new driver's license, if you have a passport, that's perfect, otherwise you'll want to bring a birth certificate and a yearbook or some other photo ID if you have one to the DMV. |

call the IRS..report your social security number stolen..
make sure you call the police and have them come to you to make a serious report..
when closing all the above make sure they know it was stolen and all activity after a certain time is fraud... Also, let the DMV know that your license was stolen, they can put a block on it so it cant Be used and the person can be traced ( if it is used anywhere the license has to be scanned, like bars and some retail outlets)
This is a very serious , scary matter..

Did you already call the police? As long as you reported it to the police, the SSN office, the bank, and whatever other cards or places you believe the robber could use against you, then you should be fine. Hopefully they will catch the jerk and you won't need to worry any longer. |
