DM | Paypal error, DEBT HELP!!!? |
I had someone gain access to my bank account, and had to close it, it was paired with my paypal account.
i had recently bought something on ebay, and the transaction was approved by paypal after my account had been closed.
I currently have no way to pay my negative balance, and paypal has hired a collection acency.
Is it my fault that they authorized the payment, and since i never got an email telling me to pay them, what should i do.,
the collection acency says I have 30 days before i guess i get sued.
Additional Details
I have tried to talk to IC, but i am under 18, and they want to speak with my parents.
They dont know about this debt, and need to keep it under my hat.
I know i am not legally tied to this, but i know IC want their money, and do not want anything to happen to my father's credit.
i am broke, but am saving up, I owe 320.01. |

*****Pick up the telephone and contact them. Explain to them what happened honestly, and have a plan to pay them back immediately. There is no agency that will not work with you on such an issue. These things happen more frequently than you probably realize.

something similar to this happened to me. I too bought something from e bay but I paid for it with my pre-paid debit/credit card. If the money wasn't on the card, the transaction should not have been approved. I wrote a few e-mails to e-bay and told them that the transaction should not have been approved since I used a prepaid (reloadable) card. They took the transaction off my account and I haven't heard anything since. |

Can you open another bank account, list it on your Paypal account, and transfer the money to pay for the item? Or just pay for the item again from the new account. (Don't send the money to the collection agency).
Okay, I just had a better idea. Go get one of those prepaid Visa or MasterCard debit cards, put enough on it to pay for your purchase, and use it to pay Paypal. I should have thought of this before---I have a prepaid debit card that I use for all my eBay transactions just so I don't have to give them my banking info. |

paypal had IC Systems calling for me for about 4 months trying to collect a debt, that wasnt my fault either... in the end, I had to pay. Paypal has a long history of not being very customer friendly. All the Cust.Serv. reps would not help me, they would not even listen to the info I was providing to clear the debt. So, I was out $244, just save up and pay it. If the collection people want you to make a payment, ask if you can do a partial payment, then offer up only $1. |

If they have hired a collection agency then the agency should be able to settle the debt for you.
If you closed your bank, did you open a new one because you should be able to add the new bank account to your pay pal and go from there, or charge it on a credit card. But, if I were in your place I would contact the agency and find out through them the best way to pay them.
The agency will not sue you after 30 days either. It usually sits on collections for a while and they will call you and bug you and send you annoying letters. If you contact them after they send you letters and you still don't pay then yeah your saying you owe it and they prolly can sue. |

If you bought something then pay the collection agency and make it right. Though you did not cause the problem with your account of course, it is also not paypals problem. Neither did they and your purchase must be paid for-check in with your seller and with paypal-you must keep on top of this-if your credit with paypal was fine before-well of course they oked it-its your responsibility to pay your bills-figure out how to do that very thing and make things right. I'm sure your bank etc are trying to work with you-so work with paypal-they are a legit business |
