This is a legitimate settlement. Check out the news report in the following link. I was very suspicious when I received this too. Since I didn't spend a great deal of money overseas, I'm just going to use Refund Option 1, which does not require you to provide credit card numbers.
Here is the link to the news story.

After a quick look around, I think this is legit - if not, it's a pretty elaborate scam http://www.ccfsettlement.com/ |

I myself feel that this has something to do with out of the US buying and not paying taxes. My tax person told me a few years back that the credit cards companies are working with the Government to track down people most of all the ones that were buying Cigs and drugs. All I can say is watch out!! |

I actually got one in the mail last week and another one today. One with a refund ID and one without. It may or may not be legit, but it's not asking for any bank account or credit card numbers or any information they don't already have.
I ran a whois on the website they provided and it belongs to an accounting firm in PA: http://www.hrsclaimsadministration.com/. or www.heffler.com. They seem like a legit firm, but ran the BBB on them and couldn't find much info on them. |

Yes, it is for a settlement from a class action suit. The suit was regarding charges for converting currency if you made purchases in a foreign country using one of these cards.
If you received one, you must have filed a claim. That's where they got your address. |

it looks like a scam, feels like a scam - I wonder if there is a way to prove or disprove it... |

I just got one today in the mail, I'm thinking it is a scam because (and this may sound a bit weird, but) I don't have any credit cards and never had any, so I would not be entitled to any refund related to Visa, MC, or Diners. It lists the same info already mentioned here, the 3 options for a refund and website to go to. |

I got the same three-option letter in the mail yesterday. It looks on the up and up, particularly option #1 for $25 where they do not ask any account # questions.... but I just do not know. |

I received one and notice you have to give sensitive information--bank acct numbers, for example. I'm not trusting this yet. |

I got this yesterday, too. I'm trying to find out information to see if it's a scam. I would never give this info unless I contacted initially. If you find out anything please email. I'm curious. |

Yes, I rec'd the same three option doc yesterday in the mail (12/6/2007)... My gut feeling tells me this is a scam...Because why wouldn't our creditcard companies refund us directly??? I'm sure if anyone mails in option#1, someone will be calling you asking for more information... This is too good to be true.... I'm going to sit on the sidelines until I here more.... |
