what can I do to stop this or know if it is genuine |

It sounds like a scam to me, sending a cheque is a way of getting your details, get rid of it.... |
|

Budge

Do you really need to ask this question? There has been so much publicity on the subject I thought everyone was aware of these blatant scams. Mind you, they are still being operated so some people must still be sending their money. Deserve everything they get (or should I say don't get). |

any lottories etc in which you won something wouldn't make you pay out to collect your winnings they would just take fee out of winnings its a scam call OFT or consumer direct 08454040506 the same goes with all prize draws, second how can you win a competion that you haven't entered |
|

100% it won't be genuine. Never, ever pay out money for so-called winnings. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
Don't think you can prevent it. |

 |
Did you enter the competition? if not then you ain't won nothing send the form back to the sender and ask them to deduct what they are asking you to send from your winnings
you will never hear from them again!! |

Never fall for those scams. If something is too good to be true it usually is. The world is unfortunately full of people trying to rip other people of. |

Absolutely as scam. Any unsolicited mail that asks for money is a scam. In fact, most junk-mail is just scam after scam. Throw it away.
As for stopping it coming, I'm afraid you won't be able to do that. It's not a crime, or infringement of your rights to send you physical junk-mail. I'd recomend finding a use for it as kindling, toilet paper, use the envelopes as notepaper, or just recycle it. Then at least it serves some purpose. |

This is definitely a scam. Why would someone give you huge amounts of money for no reason? And if you have won some money, there is absolutely no reason why you should have to send a cheque to claim it. Throw is away, it is just somebody trying to get money from you, unfortunately there are actually people who are stupid enough to fall for it, or these criminals wouldn't bother trying. |

That is the oldest scam in the book.
If you ever have emails or mail from a competition or company you do not have dealing with, it is a scam. |

IT has to be a fraud. Write to the sender and say,"Take what I owe you out of the winnings and send me the balance," |
|

Roxy
|
Isn't it strange. You've won some money but have to send cash first... Hmmm. |

BIN IT ! |

Your second word says it all. Fraud. If you didn't enter a competition, how did you win it? |
|

BIN IT, it has scam written all over it. If they ask for cash first it is a con. |

Here's a BIG hint....
It is NOT genuine - simply ignore it, throw it away - however, if they've supplied a pre-paid envelope, you could always tear up everything they've sent you and post it back to them - maybe that way, they'll get the hint.... |
|

Wicked Good
|
It is fraud, you can report it to your post master. Other than that there is not much you can do. A genuine offer would not request a cheque from you first. |

put it in bin its a scam |

If it was genuine, they would not want YOU to send them money! They would send you money, that's what happens when you win something.
There is probably no way you can stop it, but you can just throw the letter in the recycling bin and not worry about it. Let them waste their stamp! |
|

RAINBOW

Yep this is a scam. |
