aecruiser | Really, how difficult is it to become weatlhy nowadays? |
I am curious, for those of you who are wealthy, has it been a tough road full of sacrifices and hardship, or have you simply done what came naturally to you? I guess what I am getting at is this, do you believe becoming wealthy in America today is something that is difficult and requires alot of luck, or do you think it just takes some self-discipline, patience, and common sense? Everyone complains that it is so difficult to make ends meet and escape the lower/middle class. How difficult is it really? Additional Details Great reference to "The Millionaire Next Door". That is one eye-opening and incredible book. |

Okay, well..I was born into a wealthy family.
But I see how my dad got all of the money he has.
He is the national CEO of Toyota Financial Services.
He wasn't born into an extremely wealthy family, but his parents (my grandparents) did very well too.
He went to college.
That's all it takes.
Get good grades in high school,
that will get you to a good college.
He went to UC Irvice, Texas A&M, and Indiana Kelly Business School.
That's all he did.
I don't think he ever meant to get to where he is now, but yeah....you just gotta be smart, and don't be lazy.
For myself,
I want to be the CEO of Disney someday.
I'm graduating high school this year,
and going to Texas A&M on scholarship to go to school & play softball. |

Well, that all depends on how much you save. If you always have to have the best right now. It's going to be tough. If you can except a little less now and put the money away in proper investments.... You will make money for your future. |

very easy with discipline. Say you're 25, save $200 a month for 40 years at 10% return (stock market investments) will net you $1,275,356 when you retire. If you wait until you're 35 to start saving and that $200 a month will net you only $455,000. The power of compounding is very powerful and some people understand it.
When people get a raise, instead of keeping their standard of living the same, they just increase it to the new level. That's how you get into trouble. |

it's not difficult at all you just have to be motivated and start up your own business that you feel strongly in and feel it will definetly be successful and will bring in many different clientel from many different walks of life and those clientel will bring in many different people from different walks of life and if continue work your company that hard then eventually you can be wealthy but not without hard work |

The US property market is bad right now with a lot of forclosures and forced sales. So you buy a home now on a mortgage with the biggest percent of value and longest repayment term you can and wait for it to go up. In the meantime you have a nice home to live in.
Choose carefully. Look at the location. |

If you can accept a lower quality of life after school and not try to "keep up with the joneses" (I hate the phrase, but its applicable), you'll be far ahead of many others.
Stay out of debt if you can, or if you do take on debt, take on "" good debt. Pay off your cc balance every month. Don't take out loans on depreciating assets if you can avoid it.
Save and invest as much as you can.
That is, I feel, the safest way to achieve the goal of becoming wealthy. I do not consider myself wealthy yet, but I do feel confident saying I am better off than many people my age that started off in a similar position because of how I save money and how I spend it.
There are circumstances in which I can see how it is difficult for some people to escape the lower class (poor education, lack of opportunities people in the middle and upper class receive, etc.
I think that one of the largest burdens is having children at too young an age and not completing college. |

Making money and becoming wealthy isn't as hard as society makes it out to be. One of the golden rules, is money-makes-money. The easiest, yet far from the quickest, ways to make money is to borrow your investment dollars from a financial institution such as a bank, purchase real-estate with it, which always runs at a profit over time, then re-invest the profit into more property, and on-sell again etc.
Others choose the high-risk approach and throw everything into stocks. Sometimes it pays off, other times it breaks people. If you know what you're doing and have the right financial advisors on your team, it's fairly simple.
SO as long as someone wishing to make money has a good credit rating, all in all it's pretty easy to become wealthy. |
