Hmm - the politics of envy abounds in many I'm afraid. I'm not very rich but do okay, but I have some friends and family that have done very well for themselves, and they all work very hard and they all pay in. But where does the politics of envy stop? Just because I work hard and have a nice house and car, many people begrudge it! But if I sit at home on me a$$ all day like them - then that's okay too I guess. You cannot ever win this argument. It's dog eat dog in every aspect of this world. Look after number one, then your family, then your friends... and shaft everyone else - that's what! |

It's not always true, there are a lot of hardworking lower class people that do everything right and still can't get a break, some of them are unable to save because they have to live paycheck to paycheck just to keep their families fed. There are also a lot of people who prefer not to work as hard or save and just try to milk the government for money. They get away with it easily too. I don't think we should blame "poor people" as a whole but blame the government for allowing the worthless lazy people to suck money out of it at every chance. |

No, they are not. Poor people don't have the resources to buy good, fresh food, therefore they have to buy what they can afford, which, usually, isn't fresh healthy food. Also, if they had the money to save, they would probably do so. It's a case like Marie Antoinette being told the people didn't have enough bread and her reply "well, let them eat cake". She, like most rich people, don't understand the meaning of poor. Would that the poor people could indulge themselves too much once in a while. |

That's not always true. Look at all the rich idiots who ran the auto and finance industries into the ground. If they had not spent so much money on CDOs, then they could have had enough liquidity to withstand the financial turmoil.
Whether poor people save "enough" depends on what the objective is. If the objective is to force back a consumption-driven economy, then they're probably not spending enough. If the objective is to have a domestic source of investment capital, then they're probably not saving enough.
I wonder where you're getting this "Rich people always" comment. I don't think that's accurate. Maybe some rich people say that sometimes, but not all of them always.
Whenever I see someone spending globs of money on luxury items, I'm quite grateful, because it keeps the economy going.
