try the Halifax for a cardcash account they will give one to just about anyone.
I have noticed a few people say that banks "must" let you open an account. This is not true, if your actions with another company are deamed as fraudulent, paying in cheques that bounce or running up an unatherised debt, then you may very well have been loaded to CIFAS, in which case no bank in England will go near you. |

You might find they are going to be flexible because you're having your pay paid in to the account which is pretty basic Don't suppose you're expecting a credit card? |

There is no need to worry x the Key account is a baisic account for customers who have poor or no credit history, you have a cash card but not a debit card and the facility for direct debits and standing orders are available. once youh ave had the account for a while, normally min 6 months, and ur salary is mandated to the account then the will review the account as long as the conduct it satisfactory then they can possibly upgrade your account to and IPCA(interest paying current account) but ask about timescales for this in your branch, As for the answer saying speak to the natwest about a step account, its the exact same as a key account as RBS own nawtest, You can also use the telephone and internet banking to maintain your account, They will normally run a credit score, u never know u might be eligible for a better account than the Key account |

if they do, speak to Natwest about a Step Account.
We had TERRIBLE finances after being students, and this was the onlyone we can get.
It doesn't offer ANY overdraft/cards etc...and they keep an eye on you...once you regain control over about 2 years, they amend the credit listing & offer you a better account.
We have no accepted it, and stayed as we are so we dont get into the same position. |

HSBC do a basic bank account that is available to all even if you fail a credit check. They will take you through an application for a normal account and if the credit score fails they will open a basic bank account for you. It runs as a normal account i.e. you can get wages paid in and have direct debits going out. You will get a cashline card and once you have it for a little while they will look at upgrading you to a normal account
Good luck |

I have no doubt that you will be able to open an account- even if it is only a basic account. if you do not have an established credit history you will probably have to wait before you can get an overdraft. What you should be aware of is that Banks have very strict requirements regarding the identity they will require from you in order to open the account. this may seem unnecessary but it is important so that they can be sure they are not opening an account for a fraudster or thief who has stolen another person's identity. To save embarassment go and ask what ID is required. I have also included a link below which might be useful. Good luck |

They should be alright as long as its only a really basic account |

if refused go to abbey they will open you a cash card account which you can pay your wages in to and have a card to gain access to your money after six months if all ok with account they will upgrade you (on request ) to a current account with a debit card ..and as long as you use the account wisley you can then apply for credit card and start to increase your credit rating |

Banks dont usually deny you cos of poor credit history. They will just limit your account so you cant have a debit card or cheque book. In other words they will stop you any facilities that will perhaps get you overdrawn. Good luck. |

i opened a key account with rbs and i have a bad credit history. i don't have much confidence in rbs though as they messed my account up and didn't do the account that was opened for my little brother properly either. i have an account with cooperative bank and they are great. its called a cashminder account and all you get in a visa electron card and direct debit facilities. you can have your pay paid into this account with no probs. good luck with whoever you chose to bank with. good luck with your permanent job too |

the RBS are one of the best banks to accept you when you have a poor credit history. I had big debts with two banks when i was a student but rbs opened me an account no problems. Honestly dont worry about it. You will get a key account no probs at all. I have one. Its just a basic account with cash card that you can have your wages paid into and direct debits. Once you got your credit rating up with them than you can up it to a current account |

Maybe you could try to get a post office savings account, or even try for a savings account with a bank that lets you access your money, instead of a actual basic current account. Perhaps you can get your wages paid in there. I don't know for sure, but it's worth investigating. |

Government legislation require banks to allow you to open this kind of account. I.ve been there myself. Just ensure you take the required identification or you will be making a double trip! |
