SMART ADULTS. help.?
if the father is the only person that supports his wife that does not have a job, with four kids, and his income is 44,000 dollors a year,

do you think if he pays 775 dollors per month that could hurt our economy?

it's just for my education, i dont want to go to public.

its until the reach of 9,000 something dollors for a year.

Your talking about 20% - $1 of every $5 your Dad works very hard for and earns.- of the family's total gross income - just so you can go to a private school.

IF you were my child or grandchild and you came to me with that proposal: Here's what I would tell you:

"I'll make a deal with you:
YOU go out and earn $4500 to help with your own cause. Your mother and I will discuss it. BUT FIRST: YOU MUST EARN that money. It might not be able to be this coming September, but it might happen.

AND IN ADDITION: YOU MUST maintain a "B" average or 3.0 average or higher. OTHERWISE, you continue going to public school."

BTW, there isn't anything wrong with public school. I went to public school. My brothers went to public school.

Our parents provided us with the opportunity to get out of our "sterile" environment AND interact with other folks of different races, creeds, colors, religions and backgrounds.

As I reflect, it was one of the greatest decisions our parents made for us.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

VTY,
Ron Berue
Yes, that is my real last name!
P.S. Print out my answer and show it to your parents. Listen to what they have to say. They might be easier. They might be tougher.

How about, you get a part time job. Pay at least half of the $775.00 monthly toward your education. Then sign a promissory note with your parents promising to pay them back, with interest, the money they spent on your education, starting within three months of your graduation.
Do you think that will hurt you.

How your father uses his money will have little if any impact on the economy. Approximately 1/4 of his take-home pay will KILL the family budget. I don't know what you mean by "I don't want to go public."

I am sorry but I think that would hurt. That's a big portion of his salary.

$44,000 income
- Fed tax(approx) 30%
==$30,800
-Support $9,300(based on gross of $44,000)
==$21,500
-State tax (unknown) assume 6%
==$2,640
Total Tax=$15,840
$44,000 less $15,840 less $9300=== $18,860
This is realality.

Do this: find out how much this father takes home in his paycheck each month (not his *gross* income, but his *net* income).

Then figure out how much he has to pay for each of the following items every month:

Mortgage or rent
Heat
Electricity
Cable or satellite TV
Internet
Phone bill
Cell phone bill
Car payments
Car insurance
Gas for car(s)
Parking fees or tolls to get to work
Groceries
Clothes for himself and wife
Clothes for the four children
An occasional evening out
Birthday/Christmas presents for family
Haircuts for everyone
Money the kids need for school activities
Money the kids need for school lunches
Water bill
Contributions to charity/church
An occasional pizza or movie for the family
Newspapers/magazines

Once you've got *realistic* estimates for all those expenses, add them up. Then subtract them from the amount this man brings home.

Then you tell me where you can *possibly* imagine he's going to come up with an extra $775 a month!!!

With one income it is tough with four children. I mean, you only have so many pieces of the pie to go around?

dennisgonzalezdgm
Wait a minute this is for the education of a child. I think its a small price to pay so that he/she has an advantage. He can also get a loan like any other person in this forum.

I think wife should get a job so she doesn't have to rely on others.
