Open another account. Deposit your $140 in a savings and the remainder in your checking. Only spend from the checking. LINK THE SAVINGS TO YOUR CHECKING so if you make an overdraft mistake, you will not get hammered on bank charges but instead it will cover you automatically. When you get over $1000 in savings, move that money to Ameritrade, ETrade or some other stock investment account. By the end of each year, you should save at least $1500 plus gains on your stocks. Do this religiously and you'll have more money than you know what to do with. |

holy crap, you only make $212 per paycheck? ouch! im guessing retail.
i would have a savings account and have your check AUTOMATICALLY have $140 deducted and placed into your savings account. the rest is for you to do what you will with it. |

Here's a Suggestion:
Open up two accounts maybe a checking and savings.
Deposit your check (fully) into your Savings (Hopefully high
interest rates are available) and only use a checking bank card.
Transfer money online to your card, so when you do this only
transfer a few and when you have to do it your reminding yourself
every time how much money is in both accounts.
This is how i do it and there has been many times i change my
mind about transferring money after i saw in front of me a remind
what is left in my account. |

Open a savings account at your same bank. Just deposit half in there and half in your checking account. If you try to save an unrealistic amount, you will end up using it and usually more. Get the savings account that you cannot access easily ie (atm card, or cpu access). Make sure the only way to get that money is to actually go into the bank and with-drawl in case of an emergency.
Good luck |

Its just as easy to spend it if you use your debit card. What you should do is put some of it into a savings account and not touch it. Thats what I do and it make it accessable if you need it but not so close to you if you dont. If that makes since. |

you should start taking 10% of your check and putting it into a savings account, it will defiantly help you out
And it really depends upon you to deposit your entire check, personally i would deposit it all so the temptation is less likely to happen |

I always deposit my entire check and use a charge card for most purchases. But I am very disciplined about spending money.
Your method may work better for you. Save the $140 every week, and spend the remaining cash. That way you can't overspend unless you use the debit or charge card.
Many people have no discipline, and therefore should NEVER use a charge card and the debit card is not much better. |

Putting more money in the bank at a time will look better for your records as far as the bank is concerned.
I use my debit card for everything. As long as you keep an eye on how much you are spending I think it is the way to go. You'll want to familiarize yourself with the fees your bank charge for the use of your debit card, though. For instance, my bank charges me a fee if I use mine as a debit card but if I run it as a credit card there is no fee involved.
Good luck! |

yes that would be a good idea. but you really need to be careful using your debit card or else things could go downhill fast.
i know you probably don't want to hear this but consider quitting smoking. it will save you soo much money!!! (about $5000!) |

Deposit your whole check and stop smoking. You seem to be young. Think of all the money you spend on smokes. If you stop smoking, you will save a considerable amount of money that will build up over time. |

I would say deposit your check like I've done for a long time and instead of using my debt card, I use my credit. And when the bill comes in I pay it in full. You have to hold on to as much money as you can, and only buy things that you really need but once in awhile treat yourself to something nice. Save as much as you can because we live in hard times and jobs are not secure anymore. |

Invest it in the market. Medium risk stocks can turn that $100 into a whopping $108 in only one year. |
