dont threaten to leave they wont pay, go see a solicitor then go and tell them politely no offence but I'm seeking advice from a solicitor just so i can get paid what I'm owed

Prodigal Son
I'd suggest a visit to the Citizens Advice Bureau, they'll have it sorted out in no time at all. As for leaving your job, perhaps line up something new before doing so?

I think you should look for another job just in case they are trying to pull a fast one. Just to have some income in case they try to fire you. Do not tell anyone you are looking for another job. Record on paper the hours you are owed, the number of times you have asked for your pay and the responses and who you spoke with each time. Take this information to your local labor dept, or legal aid representative. There are labor laws. You can use them to your advantage. Once this issue is resolved be nice and just say thank you for the pay. Do not give the employer any reason to think he needs to fire you. If you get fired soon after the issue is resolved the labor dept. Might make them pay you damages. If you are the cause of your being fired you will just be out of a job. If you have a job lined up, you do not want to make waves because one employer who gives you a bad reference can cause a lot of confusion that you have to clear up. You won't forget what they did but just be cool about it because it is in your best interest.

I would sit in your boss's office until it is worked out on your next work day. That way you are getting paid but they are forced to take care of it immediately. I mean we don't work for free and its not fair that you are owed wages for hours worked. If you are in the boss's face they have no choice but to work it out or pay you for being unproductive.

1. Politely put it in writing what you are owed.
2. Give them a reasonable time to pay up (ie 28 days)
3. If they do not pay within this time, go to www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and send them a small claims summons.

Find a solicitor and see what your rights really are. You shouldn't have to threaten to leave just to get paid.
