Getting the debt paid should be priority number one. If you are behind and late I would put the $600 towards that. However, if you got it under control and are working on it then by all means take a vacation. As long as you stick to your budget and don't incur new debt it may be good to go and clear your mind.
BTW, is this stimulus money? If so, and you are married you should have at least double the amount. I would see nothing wrong with spending $600 of it. |

Pay off your debt, you can't afford a vacation at this time. |

The thing that separates adults from children is adults will delay immediate pleasure for something greater, and children will whatever feels good then.
Which are you, and what is the greater pleasure? (Just think of all the vacations you can go on when you don't have to give most of your income to debt collectors) |

Yea that's real logical.. take a trip so you accumulate more debt, find things to do in your area that are cheaper, but still exciting, you'll thank yourself (and so will your creditors) in the long run |

You should pay off some debt. I know a vacation sounds great and is really tempting but I think paying off your debt would help you to relieve more stress than taking a vacation. You will be more relaxed and you won't have to worry as much about paying it off on time and if you will have enough money to get you through the month and still be able to pay your debt. Maybe after you pay it off, you could take a nice vacation and relax knowing that everything is alright and there isn't debt to worry about when you get back. |

Pay off your debt. You'll feel much better not having that hanging over your head.
Do some day trips with the baby and take a picnic lunch during the nice weather. Doesn't have to be expensive and you'll have a nice outing to enjoy. |

Pay off the debt and then have a holiday.
While you're on holiday, your debt will be costing you interest. So the longer you leave it to pay off, the more it will cost you. Pay it off now, and you'll be able to save for a holiday sooner.
Until a couple of months ago, I hadn't had a week off since 2005. I work two jobs. You get used to it. You don't NEED a holiday. You NEED financial stability. Pay off the debt, put your family's financial interests first, and then spend the time you're saving for the holiday to plan something amazing. Don't do it right now and shortchange your family's future. You're worth more than that. |

Debts have a way of piling up, especially if you put off payment on them. Might want to save that vacation for next time.
There's a good article at eHow on steps to take to begin tackling your debt. Take a look at it:

For only $600, I would do the trip. That is a reasonable amount to have fun.
Pay off the debt as soon as you return.
Good Luck! |

thats a tough one. There is no best answer. Of course paying off debt is what we SHOULD do. But, what if not taking a break from reality ends up costing you in the future?
Its all up to you. |
