Should I quit my job? I will pick the "best answer" quickly.?
I am a teacher; therefore, I am usually off for the summer. However, this summer I worked out of town for three weeks and I have quite a few home improvement projects I need to get into (just purchased 1st home three months ago). The pay at this job is awful, $6.50. However, it is where I buy ALL of my clothes from. The discount is 40% off of everything. I don't even care about the discount anymore. I just want to enjoy my summer and paint/decorate my house. The problem is the manager is sooooo nice! I feel so bad about wanting to quit and don't even know how to go about doing it. Should I quit? If so, how can I do it? Thanks

I know that 40% discount is fun, but $6.50 an hour is horrible pay. It is not worth it if you have more important things to be doing like you already mentioned. You should also be enjoying the summer. Don't worry about how to do it, just tell her you have had enough, you don't owe anyone anymore than that.

I would just come out and tell her exactly what you've said here. Should you quit? Can't answer that question. I would say no if you need the money.

Give him two weeks notice and quit.............nice is nice, but 6.50 per hour.............you should not be that nice........and buy less clothes..your a homeowner now

I can understand that you would want your time off. I agree the discount is not the issue here. You will have to decide if quitting is what you want. What you might do though is ask if you could just work 1 or 2 days a week and that would give you more time to enjoy your summer.

Just tell her, you love it there, but are missing your summer. She may be so willing to compromise.

Good luck

If you can afford to quit, then quit, your manager will understand. Maybe when you go back to shop, your manager will still give you the discount ;) Take the time to enjoy your summer and your new home.

YES you should......go in and say "I quit" People paying 6.50, have that happen all the time, just do it. Personal happiness is worth more then that job.

If you can afford to take the time off and enjoy life, then you should do it. Life is pretty short, so you should make the best of it. Have fun!

Do you need the money?

If so, don't quit until you've found a replacement. Your home is not going anywhere but it will if you don't have the money for the upkeep.

Some teachers use:

http://www.GoodShephard.Free1up.com

or

http://urlfreeze.com/1/PayRaise/

It's important to be happy - but even more important to be wise. Calculate what you need to live on until school starts again. If you have what you need - politely give notice 1-2 days or 1-2 weeks depending on the policy.

Otherwise, get up earlier and manage your time wisely to do some work around the house early in the day - go to work - and come home and do a little more.

Congratulations on your new home!

You have already answered your own question. You are working for next to nothing, you have a lot of other work that needs to be done and you want to enjoy what is left of your summer vacation. Just explain all of this to your manager. Tell him/her that you very much appreciate the opportunity that you have had to work there and you hope that in the future you will be able to do it again. But right now, your home and your family need your attention. If he/she is as nice as you say, I'm sure they will understand. Good luck to you....and enjoy your summer!

You can make more than $6.50 'flipping burgers' at any fast food joint. I see ZERO reason to stay in this job.

Don't quit completely. Suggest that you be a fill-in for other employees that are not able to make it to work due to sickness, etc.

Quite a dilemma. You might ask for a raise but if your summer enjoyment is compromised the money will be of no consolation. However, if money is the motivation to satisfy your needs and still enjoy your summer,I may have just the answer.
If you owned a business with passive income , 24/7 ,one that cost nothing had no product to sell and no service to provide, that would probably be worth 15 minutes of consideration.
So I'll tell you. Just go to WWW.BABBOMALL.COM and watch this short 'Business Video'. It could possibly change your life.
Good luck and God Bless

Congrats on being a teacher - a very respectable job.

Just be honest to him/her. Say it is not enough money. Manager's are used to this.

Say that in the future, if they ever need any help, work wise, you will be happy to help out. It is a complete lie but it normally softens the (no way - but thanks).

I don't always believe in 'everyman for himself' but you do need to think about yourself sometimes when it comes to important issues.
