Thom | Should i spend my money or not? |
Ok, im 15 and i have been saving up for a long time and i have £600 in the bank. There is this new phone i want, that costs £40 per month for 18 months. So all of my money gone.
In your experience will i need this money for another time in the future, or should i go ahead and spend? |

Of course you will need it in the future. Higher education, travel, owning your own home. That phone is not a necessity do without. |

Maybe not such a good idea. If you sign up for a 18 month contract i think they will give you the phone but i think you need to be 18 yrs old |

Would you like to learn to drive in a couple of years? If so, I would leave the money where it is and keep saving and let it accrue some interest. A chunk of money like that would be very very handy if you want to drive (or buy a car), as it's so expensive these days.
As for the phone, could you ask for one on PAYG for Christmas? |

If you have 600, I suggest you buy the phone and get a contract sim which will be cheaper, or buy the phone and go: pay-as-you-go.
Remember you are 15, you cannot sign a contract without your parents; so consult them first, they will have your best intentions in mind and they have a great wealth of knolwedge/advice which you can feed upon.
do your research on whats available for you on mobiles and such, don't just look at contracts. remember ebay has really cheap phones. |

Keep the money in the bank. In a few years, you'll be on your own, and you'll be glad you saved it. In the meantime, get a part time job -- tutor, babysit, do yardwork, work at a restaurant, whatever. No matter how little money you make, save a little, then you can spend the rest guilt-free. If you don't make 40 pounds a month, then you should try to find a cheaper phone.
Besides, once you buy the phone, you'll feel like you can't live without it, and you'll be disappointed when you can't afford it anymore! |

save it you never know you may go to university in the future and you will need it for books you have to be 18 for a contract phone |

So when you are 16 and a half, and you have no money, no phone, what will you do. It seems that such an expensive phone at 15 is a bit luxurious. Think ahead, like you have over the last ten years, not for the moment. Feels good to have that 600 pounds, you will be miserable being broke. |

Spend it while you're young mate, in a few more years you'll have a partner, mortgage and kids and then you won't have any money to buy the nice things.
Enjoy life while you can! ;) |
