But you will need one as soon as you are hired. The reason the employer needs it is that it is your Taxpayer Identification Number.
You needn't show the card to the Employer either. There are other forms of ID that show your right to work in the US. Example: US passport
If you are a minor in the US now, chances are very high that you already have an SSN. Otherwise your parents couldn't have taken you as a deduction on their income tax. It's been like this since the 1980's |
