It's hard for me to even consider this a "real" question. I'm going to have to assume you just discovered the Internet because this scam is as old as email itself.
Financial rule A (don't know really if that's true, but it should be) You don't get money for nothing, always remember that. My questions,
Did you enter this raffle? Or, Is this the first time you've heard of it? If your answers were No and Yes, in that exact order, red lights should be flashing in your head right now. Even if you win a bi-gillion dollars in the lotto you still had to buy a ticket.
A little more FYI, if some guy emails you and says he wants to give you a huge chunk of cash just for letting his "company" use your bank account for holds or something it's a scam. If you get some email saying this person left a bunch of money to a person who can't be found and has no other family, so if you please take it we just want a resolution to the problem. Just give us your bank account number, it's a scam. I could go on all day really, but these are the most common.
It's all common sense really, just refer to rule A. |

Chances are, you really didn't win a raffle. I get those all the time. Keep your info to yourself, you'll be safer that way. If they are for real, they will be willing to send you a check for whatever amount of money that you won. |

Chances are that YOU NEVER GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER, maybe debit card number but NEVER ACCOUNT NUMBER |

wire transfers are how people usually pull scams. the way you said they call you and you won something online is fishy. If you won money and they need to send it to you all they need is your name and address and they can send you a check.
never give out your swift code and/or account number. that gives them full access to all the money in your bank account. |

It is a rip off and a skamm -- never give that information to anyone or you will be in deep financial debt... |

Did you really enter a raffle? This is a scam. They want your bank info so they can either drain your account or use your bank info to create bogus checks.
Tell them to mail you the winnings. And then be very cautious about that check. It will probably be bogus. |

Certainly not, this sounds like phishing to me. If you can, find out their details like address, company name, directors and tax numbers and talk to your bank. But NEVER give anything out to anyone you don't know, even if you think it is harmelss data. Be careful! |

If it is just some online raffle, DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER or any of your personal info for that matter. It is most certainly a scam. It happened to my friend and they withdrew $150 from her account and she was never able to get it back. |

If you are expecting a foreign wire transfer from someone you know, then yes, it is safe to give out. |

You never won a thing I am sure. Never give out any bank information...they will steal your money! These people need to be turned in...do you have a phone number? If you did give them any information call your bank NOW...to stop the process. |

... Did you enter the raffle?
General rule of thumb, you never give your bank information out to random people who call you, no matter what company they say they work for. They very well could be "phishing" - using a little bit of info about you to convince you that you should/ must give them your account numbers and/ or passwords. If you did not enter the "raffle" then this is most likely the case. If it is a legitimate contest, they must be able to pay people without bank accounts. |

Do not give it to them! Its a scam! I work for a bank and i have seen what happens. They will take all the money out of your accounts. If you have given this info to them call your bank right away and notify them! |

All wires require a aba or swift codes but swift codes usually deal with foreign banks it is ok to give out a swift code as long as you know that every thing is legitimate but you sound like you dont know a lot about this raffle and this makes me very suspicious be careful just make sure someone is trying to put money in instead of taking it out call your bank and chat with a customer service person and see what they have to say please be sure it is legitimate before you give any of your account information out. |

Yes and no.
If you trust the person it is ok to give out swift code/sort code/account number. If you have a cheque/check book your bank code and account number will be printed on it anyway.
But in this case???? Absolutely NOT. Only scam emails really still refer to 'Wire Transfer', you did not enter and you certainly did not win an online raffle.
If you give out your bank details as well as some personal information (e.g. address, date of birth, mother's maiden name, pet's name) then you would be giving them everything they need to steal your money. |

yes, and no.
yes, it is safe to give the sc-the swift code only identifies yr bank on an international level--it is not specific to your account.
and no, it is unsafe to give yr account number, as this is a scam. I have personally witnessed people fall prey to this scam in my office.
You should forward the requestor's information to your bank so they can send it to the loss prevention department. |
