Someone is taking money out of my bank account and no one is helping me. What do i do?
Yesterday i noticed on my online statement that someone withdrawled a penny from my account. I wasnt worried much about it because it was a penny, but it still felt fishy, so i called my bank service number. The women agree that it looked like someone tried to take money out of my account, and found out it was a fast cash loan place. And i have no assoication with them. The woman said she will cancel my card and send me a new one. Today the same place used my debit card and a fake online check and took money out of my account. i am now out -88 dollars. This is really frustrating me beacuse i explained to the woman the day before that something does not seem right and she assure me nothing can happen since she cancelled my card. now look what happened. What am I suppose to do. No one is listening to me. and no one is helping me. Because of the stupid bank and people who are taking my money, the apartment that i am suppose to buy dec 1, with my deposit money of 537 and my rent is 509, im going to be short on money because of the neg fee. What should i do? Beacuse im about to go into the bank tmw and all hell is going to break loose

Go to the bank. Tell them the situation and that you want to report a Fraud. They will make you fill out paperwork and this way they can also track down the user. This has happened to me before too. They found the person and the exact location, time and date my account was used online. They will then pay back all your money that was taken out for the fraud and will reimburse you for any overdraft fees, as well. They will either close your account and reopen a new one (but not until the fraud paperwork passes through) OR they can re-issue a new debit card number and account number. It's up to you. Hope this helps, and if you do this ASAP you can get your money back within the next couple days to make your apartment rent!! Good luck! :)

Close your account...then move to another bank. Continue to investigate this...sit in the bank and refuse to move until someone provides some answers and some paperwork. You have the right to know where your money is going

Have the bank freeze the account and require that you authorize each transaction personally.

I assume that the attempted withdrawal was via a debit card and not via a POS terminal. The bank should be able to freeze your account against debit card transactions.

Dispute the transactions. The bank should reimburse you the amount until it is resolved. They cannot legally ignore your complaint.

Incidentally, it's "withdrew" not "withdrawled".

take out all your money from your account and cancel that card completely and that account and then go to a different bank and make a new account and submit your money into the new one.

i agree with the other posters. close the account, withdraw all of your funds in cash. then open up a new account at a different bank, not a different branch of the same bank, but a different bank all together. shred all of your blank checks, cut up your debit cards, throw them out in separate batches.

call your local law enforcement agency and file a report, see if you can call the fast cash place and report this incident to the manager.

complain, complain, complain.

the m.o. that a lot of these crooks use is to pull out a nominal amount like your 1 cent, after that goes through with no problems, they gradually increase the amount they withdraw until you have nothing left.

these thieves have gotten crafty, it's pretty scary.

OmnimotopiaRex
wait a sec-

it may be that the woman is right-
sometimes transactions are delayed, so the thief may have pulled through a transaction beforehand, and only now you saw it

so keep in mind these things can be funny sometimes, transaction timing really makes a difference.

but nonetheless, go to the bank and sort it out. just dont get too angry.

Close the account

Did you call the bank back after you saw the $88 gone? If not, call them immediately.

Did you write down the name of the woman you spoke to at the bank? If so, be sure and mention that to whoever you talk to tomorrow because she did not do her job properly. Simply cancelling your debit card won't do any good whatsoever if someone already had your account information. She should have placed a fraud flag on your account, contacted the business trying to take money out and then closed your account and opened a new one. This is fraud and should have been reported to the police.

Might I suggest going to a new bank when you're done dealing with this mess? Doesn't sound like the people at that one know what they're doing and that's the last thing you want.

ala
it was the bank's responsibility to cancel your account.
If I were you, I'd go there and set things right. Like you said, break the hell loose.

debijs
~~You need to file a claim against this amount. The bank has to prove you made the charge.

In the meantime, open a new account. Someone could have access to your online banking. SOmething strange is going on. So get your money out of there quickly, and make the bank investigate the debit. Ask to speak to a supervisor.~~

Brown Sugar
close out the account and go to a different bank.

You are not reasonable for the money that they took out after you already told the bank lady about it. the same stuff happened to me and as we were closing our account 2 more 500 dollar transactions were made. you need to speak directly to a manager because you should not even have to wait for your money, they tried to make us wait like two weeks and we said hell no and the money was put into our other account that day just get nasty on them if you need too

Talk to a manager and close the account because bankers are suppose to be on your side and help you with these types of situations. They should have done something the first time that you noticed the withdrawl and notified them. They let it go and now your out? They are suppose to know these types of scams and guide you in the right direction.

Go to the police and ask if you can press charges against the loan place for deceptive practice or fraud or theft.

You can take the place to court and sue them too. It is usually not complicated to file a small claims suit.

Call the loans place and tell them you have no business with them and are going to sue them. Demand copies of any loan with your name on it. Someone you know well may have cosigned your name on a loan without your knowing. I had a brother with a drug problem who had his girlfriend sign my name as a cosigner on a car loan once. If they have anythign with your name on it get it in writing. Something happened and they may keep collecting this from you every month until you stop it.

Ask the car loan place by what authority are they removing cash without your permission. Do they have a judgement against you of their own from a lawsuit? You need to ask what gave them the authority to do this. You need to raise hell with the loan place harder than the bank. This is them stealing from you directly. Treat it as such.

Close your bank accounts tomorrow and take you money elsewhere. File a dispute against any fraudulent charges. Contact your credit card companies and alert them of possible fraud and have them change your account numbers or close any accounts that you don't use. I had a similar situation a few years ago, not online, but someone was stealing my mail. They actually went to my bank branch trying to cash someone elses stolen check against my account. They claimed they had lost my purse and were allowed to make purchases. I was waiting to receive my learners permit and had ordered a copy of my credit report around that time, which is where I assume they got my info. I eventually rented a p.o. box and the charges stopped. That was close to $2000. Took 9 months to get the charges cleared. Hopefully things will be cleared much faster for you.

♥my heart is taken♥
close your bank account and get your money so it stops happening

Dave E
close the account. changing your card doesn't change the account information. if you want to stay at the same institution, they can give you a new account with a completely different account number.

asuangel04
As a bank teller, I would suggest you go to your bank and file a dispute against the charges on your account. Your bank account should investigate the charges and when they find that they are not of your doing, they should give you your money back. Your bank may require that you contact the company that has taken the money and/or file a police report. You may have to close your account and open a new one to ensure that they do not try to take more money out.

Stop whining like an idiot and close your account, NOW. Don't delay. Never, ever go to a cash advance or easy loan place. These are Legalized Loan sharks.

Use your money wisely. Pay your bills FIRST, then IF you have money left, go play.
