Sould I pay off my debt if the money comes around?
I'm in the process off receiving enough funds to consolidate my major credit card debt. My plan is to pay everything off in full. Would paying them in full be the ideal thing to do?

I've heard that keeping a small balance on credit cards is good for your credit score. Is this true?

Pay off all the high debt in full. If you are lucky to have some low rates such as under 7, you could probably hold off on paying those in full. Chances are you don't have anything under 7. If everything is double digits, pay it off. If you have store cards with no interest, don't pay those off, make your normal payments to have it payed off when the interest period is up. Also keeping a balance on them does no good. But you do want to keep the cards open and active, just pay them off each month as this will help your credit.

pay off two thirds and from the third, spend one fifth of the third and keep the rest of the third in the bank as a buffer so you don't get into any more debt and then make a commitment and plan to yourself to pay off the final third using the buffer as a safety net and clear debt in 12 months

Pay it off full because if u dont u will continue to pay interest which uneccessary spending for u and if u have outstanding debt, its not good for ur credit history...the faster u pay off the balance the better it looks on ur credit report

pay off the ones with the highest interest, keep one with the lowest interest, but make sure you have more than half available. If you go over half then its bad for your credit.

sweet_thing_kay04
No it's not true.My credit is 700 and something.I pay my cards off as soon as I get the bill.I try very hard not to pay interest.I have alot of cards though. That is what helps me. Good luck

One thing I've learned is to pay the smallest balance off first. But then you have to take into account if it's worth it because of the interest on the highest balance card.

What I do is to use any money that is not part of my budget towards debt. Since I am not dependant on living with an unexpected dollar amount, I put it to use on that pesky debt.

You can either pay it off or file for bankruptcy. You can also make boilerplate letters to each of your creditors telling them you will pay ex amount of dollars each month until you have it paid off. Don't call them and ask them if it is okay, just send the letter and whatever payment you choose and keep doing this until you have them paid off. I think, by law, they have to accept this, as long as you are paying something.

Pay off the lowest balances with the highest interest. If you know you are no longer going to use your credit cards (most of us say we aren't but we do), then pay it all off and CUT THEM UP!!!! Or, keep one with a really small limit, like $2000 for emergencies.

Owing money on a credit card is expensive. So pay them off as quickly as possible except for a small balance to give you the maximum credit score.

Pay it off.

Never, ever, ever pay interest if you don't have to. The best way to get a good credit rating is to use your credit card and pay it off in full every month.
