Spend £800 on clothes a month, I am 22 and female?
spend £800 on clothes a month, I am 22 and female?
Is this bad? and I wash them after a ouple of wear and put them on ebay so that tey can be recycled or given away to a charity but I have this niggly feelinfg in pit of my stomach.I did not hav very much while I was growing up.

how much do you earn each month?

If it's 30 grand, then dont worry so much

If you can barely afford the clothes, which ios probably the case, then stop it - seek helop, you have a compulsive disorder

wisegirl74
I think first, you are very shallow, and irresponsible, because if you are working just to satisfy your fashion needs, and you are not creating wealth and giving from that wealth to others that needs it then you are one of those dresses you sell on ebay.

sister_goldenhair
wow, that is TONS of money to spend on clothes. do you pay rent/own a house? why don't you start saving for that kind of thing and stop wasting your money on clothes. i hope you make a very generous salary.

if you can afford to spend that on clothes each month then that's up to you but don't see the point myself when you are just going to give them away after a couple of wears

To spend 800pounds a month on clothes is too much even though you are now working and can afford them. Instead you should contribute some money for household expenses to your parents, since they now old and retired.
As parents it is their duty to raise you up to be what you are today. They had to pay for your education. Provide you with your daily expenses and whatever is left from they income, may be to little for your clothings. They had to make ends meet with whatever income they had.
This is also your moral duty to them as their children.

Are you serious or just winding us up? If this is true then you must be very rich and have not much else in your life if you spend so much time shopping. Even if i had the money i wouldn't do this. Come on girl, you're 22 make something of your life, make your money work for you, don't waste it.

The upside of your condition is that it will be easy to make economies when the time comes.

That is a huge amount of money. Have a few good things, use them over and over, and put away the saved funds for a project such as buying a house. Which will cost you a bit; houses in Islington were running about 700,000 pounds when I last looked.

£800 a month on clothes!?!?

Jesus Christ thats half a whole months' salary for us!

You're lucky to have that sort of money to waste!! For us £800 has to pay our mortgage, our fuel bills, our food etc. We're lucky if we get to spend £50 a month on clothes.

My partner is only a couple of years older than you so you can't use your age as an excuse.

You should invest that money into something useful like a flat or a good savings plan. You'll be glad of it in future. Stop wasting your money.

Oh and I "didn't have much when I was growing up" either. In fact I had very little, probably less than you had. But I'm not totally wasteful and materialistic, it just made me appreciate what little I DO have now! Its made me extra thrifty and sensible with money!!!

Stop making excuses. Thats a criminal waste of money.

Either just buy a few decent items each month which you know you will get good wear out of or check out your local charity shops where you can buy lots of often very good quality clothes for a few pounds. Then you can wear them a couple of times and give them back to charity without feeling guilty about having wasted your money.

I can't see how anyone can condone £800 on clothes a month unless you are on a £40,000 salary (doubtful if you're only 22) and you have no other outgoings such as mortgage, rent, bills etc.

It's up to you how you spend your money. As long as you don't need the money to give to your children for lunch or other things then I don't see the problem. 800 pounds is a lot but at the same time everyone wastes money on something as we all have our vices. I waste my money on CD's and musical instruments as well as bowling about 15 games a week. I see it as the part of my life that I enjoy though and I'll be damned if I'm going to go to work everyday and then spend the evenings watching TV just so that I can have a larger number printed on my bank book. Do whatever you enjoy and if buying clothes is your passion then go for it. As long as it doesn't effect your life in a negative way then there is no problem.

It's your money but remember if you get into money problems in the future you should not expect help or sympathy.

JOHN B
If you can afford it, do it. You worked hard so you deserve it.
I know people that spend that amount on Ciggies and booze, what do they get, Liver illnesses and cancer, so if i had to choose, yours is far more rewarding.
