Suppse you received a letter that told you that your name had been picked.?
and that you had won a lot of money. They want your details. You have, not a penny to your name, therefore no money in your bank account.. Would you send your details ? do you have anything to lose?...no one can take whats not there can they?

Scam, scam, SCAM, do not under any circumstances give them your bank details or send them any money. Even if you have no money in your bank account you can become liable for overdraft charges or become a victim of identity fraud, do not support these criminal losers and fraudsters, no one gets anything for nothing.

In the sense of money no, but it could make it easier for some one to steal your identity. Before you send your details find out if the letter and what it claims are legit. Your local police department should be able to help with that.

No i wouldn't give them any personal details. It's not just a case of taking your money - they can steal your id and everything which could get you into a lot of trouble. Anyone who says yes to this question must be morons.

To be honest,I`d wipe my a**e on it and flush it down the loo - if I`ve won any money, why don`t they just send it to my address - which they clearly already have.......

wolf
put it in the bin

Beau.Gus
If you have nothing, they will simply steal your identity, open a series of credit card accounts, run up the balances buying "fenceable" things, and leave you with a huge credit card debt. In your name. That YOU are responsible for paying. Of course with enough time, effort and a good lawyer you won't have to pay it, but unless you have a LOT of spare time, it's something you'll want to avoid!

Buddy
I would still say no

No, do not give out your info. They can take what you don't have. By giving them your info they can open up credit lines in your name and ruin your credit. Even if it is already bad it can always get worse. Identity theft is very serious and the people who do it can gain off of you even if you think you have nothing to lose.

One thing I have learned is that nobody gives you anything for nothing. Usually it does seem too good to be true and it usually is.
The best thing to do with junk mail is save it all and the return envelopes and when you have a few items send it back in different envelopes with Mickey Mouse details.
If everyone did this, they would see what a wasted practise it is.
Even if you have no money now you may do one day and they have your details. Also there is enough details for them to steal your identity if you fill these forms in.
Another practical thing is write on the envelope "no longer lives at this address" and post it. The post office will open it and write a letter to the sender saying that you do not live there and they may not bother any more.

Good point Lunchbox :)

Its a scam so I wouldn't bother - I got the Nigerian one the other week for a relative bearing my husbands name but claiming to be my relative.....must think I'm stupid.

Feeling Mutual
No, these are organized crime syndicates, usually Nigerian, who in Nigeria, are also infamous for robbing orphanages.

They will find a way steal from you, or use your information for fraud.

Report it to the authorities.

flattley
Throw it away and ignore any others. This is a scam and they are looking for people who are basically greedy enough to be suckered in.

Throw it away.

If you have received a letter, give it to the police. If it is an email on Yahoo, press the spam button. Alternatively, give them false details and wast their time.

dilan
Dont be so naive what prize why would they send you money without you even entering. It is scary sometimes how naive people can be. What exactly are they getting out of this prize give away. Why do they need your details and not send you this prize money by post. Do you not wonder these things yourself

No, I would not answer. How do you have a bank account with no money? My bank would close the account. Have you heard of bounced checks or stolen identify?
