if its money you are wanting - give it to a friend if you are a spendaholic and cut up your credit cards. |

You could open a mini cash isa...ITs a tax free way to save..up to £5000 a year.. If you make it so its not instant access, it'll be harder for you to use it on a whim.. |

Everytime you go out shopping on returning empty your pockets of change and put it in a jar, you'll soon see how quickly this will mount up. |

Don't shop (not even online) and don't go out socially unless it 's somewhere within your burget.
Entertain at home, have friends round for a meal and have a pasta dish and bottle of wine.
Check your bank account and see if there are any direct debits you can get rid of eg sky!
When shopping for groceries, use supermarket's cheapest brand eg Asda has smartprice as own cheapest brand. Before you go to supermarket, make up a menu for the week and only buy what you need for your menu or
decide how much you can spend, add up each item using a calculator as you put it in your trolley, and when you reach your limit, head for the checkout.
Every so often, treat yourself to something nice as you'll go down fast saving all the time without a break. |

I have done a few things over the years and it all helps me to save. I used to get paid monthly when I worked so every month I would take any surplus money left over and put t into a saving account which needed notice giving before I could access the money, if you have to wait for it you normally don't need to buy it! I then took to leaving my wages an extra day each month before touching them, no more queueing up at the bank first thing on pay day mornings, leave it a day and then only draw out enough for bare necessities. I now have the save the change option as well from Lloyd's TSB and every time I use my debit card the pennies are rounded up and put into a high interest online savings account. Start small and you will soon have a little nest egg behind you! |
