Here are some ideas:
-Set up scholarships at the college(s) of your choice.
-Set up scholarships for poor children to attend private schools.
-Donate to Habitat for Humanity (helps build homes for poor people and teach them how to take care of it).
-Set up an entreuprenuership foundation to help fund business ideas of people getting started.
-Donate to Toys for Tots or Bikes & Trikes for Tikes to help spread some Christmas cheer to poor children.
-Sponsor a cash award for teaching excellence.
-Find a struggling business in your community that you'd like to see stay in business and then go hire someone with the know-how to help the owners and make it happen.

You could contact your old high school and setup a scholarship.
Hire the best coach and if they win the championship the entire team goes to Harvard or any other Ivy League School if accepted.
Also the best student could get a Harvard scholarship each year.
I don't know how many millions do you want to give so I cannot give you too many answers.
If you let me know I may be able to come up with a better idea.

No reason to feel guilt b/c you made some money. Give yourself a pat on the back for working hard and being responsible with your money.
Invest the money, save for retirement.
Give 10% of money earned to charities. My favorite chartities are groups that help people set up businesses in poor countries. The teach a man to fish princple. Visit one.org. Also responsible charities like the Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. |

I would start within my own community. I don't know how much you actually have in mind but here are some ideas.
Watch for fund raising car washes. Look at what they're raising money for and see if it's something you want to give to. It could be for a band trip, a scout outing, or even a funeral expense! Usually car wash charities will appreciate anything from a $2.00 donation to actually funding the whole charity!
Check with the local colleges. You could set up a scholarship fund. You can either pay partial tuition for a semester, or even pay for a needy persons full college tuition.

Having a lot money shouldn't make you feel guilty. You need to feel useful. Doing a legitimate business does the community a lot of good too. Just look at Yahoo answers! Yahoo is a profitable business that helps me, you and so many others in our everyday lives. You have the opportunity to do some good business too. Giving to charity is also noble. You can try both. |

why don't you research different non-profit organizations in your community? there are probably many food banks, homeless shelters, etc. that you could donate to. |

Well, I can share with you what I do with my charity and then you can think if you like doing so. Instead of giving out cash, I help poor people in Pakistan buy some productive assets or livestock. O.K. there is no need to feel guilty over anything. Instead of just giving your money away like most people who answered this question, let the money work for you. You can start your own charity, or how about this, set up a personal loan program, say up to $500.00 for people with little income, bad credit or people who don't have an income and can use 500 to get started with a new job, ie. new clothes etc... They can pay you back on a monthly basis with intrest. |
