Write down everything that you spend your money on for a week- down to the last penny. You will be horrified by how much you waste and can identify where you can save.
Next go to your bank and check the interest rates etc on your savings/mortgage. Shop around to see if you can get anything better. |

Don't pay any interest on your credit cards. Get a balance transfer card and pay it back without the interest.
Don't buy food you don't need (we throw about £400 worth of food every month [edit] - should've been every year, not month)
Use less petrol, if you can... |

This is what I do. First I pay 20% out of my paycheck directly to my savings acct. That money is something I never touch. Next I pay my immediate living expenses ie. rent, water, electricity..you get the jist. I split the money again for my summer savings money (I don't get paid in the summer.)
I cut out the little extras in my life...limiting eating out, Starbucks etc. I eat healthier and I find cheap or inexpensive entertainment. Free movie rentals from the public library or free movie code on Mondays from Redbox movie. (Check out their website.)
I've also began couponing and I'm amazed by how much money I can save with a few coupons and a sales ad.

The above is a great source for printable coupons. Next continue to buy Sunday's paper for another source of manuf. coupons.
Some stores like Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target will take their store coupon and a manuf. coupon.
Know that sometimes you can buy groceries at the above store.
Get to know your grocery store coupon policies...do they double coupons? Buy groceries on sale with your coupons.
www.mycoupons.com Click on Shopping boards, Click on Tips of the Trade (TOT) you'll find postings from women who spend very little out of pocket for groceries.
Sometimes you can go to the company of a product you want to purchase and see if there are printable coupons on that site.

How about joining www.mypoints.com? You can earn "money" by turning in your points onto gift cards. You sign up and receive emails which are worth about 5 pts each.
You could Ebay or sell items on Craig's List. Maybe babysitting, garage sale, recycling. |

Hello,
There are various way to save up your money, but it all depends on how disciplined you are.
First of all, you can try to open another bank account which has the highest interest (check out your local banks) and set up a regular funds transfer from your main bank account to the new bank account and forget about the 'new bank account' you opened. In this way, you will be disciplined to spend only what is available in your main bank account, but won't be able to withdraw anything from the 'new bank account'. This will greatly enhance your ability to save. Without you knowing, you will amass a great deal of money when you revisit your 'new bank account' in five to ten years time.
Other wise, you can try to hunt for more alternate source of income.
