Transfer credit card balance?
Do credit card companies offer 0% interest on EXISTING balance (instead of on new purchases)?

Yes- many, many companies offer 0% interest on balance transfers- for a year or so. Some charge "balance transfer fees" (it's more common now) which is sometimes like a one time charge of $300 or $150.
You have to shop around and see what you get. We get zillions of those credit card offers in the mail and we normally take advantage of those because they have some good incentives with balance transfers.

only if your opening a new account with them usually.

Credit card companies would never offer 0% on existing balance. It's only a promotion for new purchases and balance transfers WHEN you open up a new account with them.

meli50
yes they do it depends on what they are offering you ..you could go to www.creditcards.com look for the 3.low interest.
http://creditcards.com/low-interest.just read if they charge you for switching your balance over and stuff...i usually always do that..

There are a bunch of 0% balance transfer offers out there:

And here's a good explanation of balance transfers in general:

polecat
Yes, they do but for only a limited time span. For example, one year or maybe just 6 months with some. There is almost always a transfer fee such as 3% of what you want transfered from another credit card. Then the 0% goes up to whatever they offer after the the expiration of the lowered rate.

AngelicJ
yes, some of them do but, some of them wont approve the transfer if the balance is too high.

pinkpouliche
depends... best thing is get a credit loan at your bank and see if they can give you a better rate than you have on the cards... then pay off the cards and cut them up. you can always start a new line of credit with another banking firm that offers 0%...

DEPENDS ON THE WAY YOUR ACCOUNT IS SET-UP

depends on the card company, some do and some don't

What? Why should they?

Most of the ones I have seen so far do not offer 0% interest on existing balances. You can try googling it though. I am sure there is something out there, but be careful of the interest rates.
