Two Jobs, help please! ADVICE?
i am working two jobs, one full time one part time at night. i live alone and just moved away from home about 4months ago to take this job (which I work for my dad, but dont make what people think)..I am struggling due to bills, gas and boyfriend. I am a very independant person that dont like people to help me but i always take advice. Now NO NO NO....my boyfriend has a great paying job he works for my dad as well but he is 120 miles away from me and i am the one that goes to see him every weekend, he pays for everything,,,, any way, what else could i do to save money? like i said i have been here for 4 months and have yet to save any money, and i DO NOT go party at all.. what should i do?

60% Bills (Aps, Gasoline, water, trash, food, phone, insurance.)
30& Debt ( credit cards, loans)
10% savings ( Just in savings DONT TOUCH)
---------------------
100%

Do that for awhile and see if that helps at all. 10% in savings doesn't seem very much but it adds up real quick. if you just stick with that you will save money. If you find that you have money left from BILLS or DEBT then just put that aside for next month because something could always come up.

Well, if you have alot of Credit Card bills, you may try and consolidate all of them into one payment. Also, maybe you and your boyfriend could take turns going from one place to another. You may wanna try and get a roommate if you have enough room. That would help alot so you can split everything. Good Luck!

Make a list of your income and a second list of what you spend your money on. Go through your checkbook for bills. Are you squandering a lot of cash by eating your meals out? Get a debit card and record everything you spend money on as you spend it. Try to avoid using cash until you know where you money is going.

Well...I am no expert because I'm a big money-spender too, but I think it's all about compromise. Give up the things you want for the things you need. Like Generic instead of Name Brand or using less electricity as oppose to having your home lit up like the Las Vegas strip. If your boyfriend pays for your trips to see him, that's one less expense that you have to pay for, but see if you can alternate, maybe he can come to you. If these tips don't work, you can always ask daddy for a raise.

You sound like a very hard working person. But you have to stop making those lg, trips. With the price of gas it cuts into your pocket book. Tell him to start coming to see you ,.divide up the week-ends. Yet you do not have to see each other eavy week. If he really loves you. you both can work it out. Tell him you need to start saving some money bye staying home some. It is wear and tear on your auto etc. Divide it up best. Pem

just pay your bills. and save the rest.

if money is the issue..then maybe you need to sit down and write out all the things that you buy in a month. figure out which items cost the most and which cost the least. what can you live without for that month? are you buying expensive food items or going out to eat all the time? cut back on spending on the wanted items...and spend more on the needed items. your opinion between items you want and need may be different, but try asking your parents on that one. just simply make a budget list, so you know how much money you will have left by the end of the month.

create a budget for yourself in Microsoft Excel or other tool. At the top, enter in your monthly income. Then, add a line for each expense with those that must be paid for living at the top - rent, utilities, insurance, gas. Followed by credit card payments and other necessary expenses. This will give you your net disposable income. From the disposable income; add lines for those items that occur that are out of the ordinary; birthdays, trips, ect. Create a column for each month of the year. Create a final column that totals each row so that you can see at a glance how much your paying for a certain expense over the entire year. Look for ways to reduce, minimize or eliminate expenses. At the top below income, include a line for forced savings; savings should be the most important expense as it it an investment to protect yourself from the unforeseen. Good luck.

PS. Get a new boyfriend or have him move closer!

Get a roomate, if you're not home much, it doesn't make sense to be paying for an empty place where all you do is crash. It would cut your expenses in half, your roomie would have the place to herself most of the time at half the cost to her. Win/win!

Clearly, do not go to see your boyfriend unless he pays the gas. Better still, get rid of the car and the boyfriend if you are struggling with them both.

Seriously, it sounds as if you can't afford the car. If you need it for work, make sure you are getting a proper mileage allowance from dad (your employer).

Perhaps your home is beyond your means. Look into sharing with a roommate if you are not doing that already.

Seek the help of a non-profit agency that does credit counselling. They can help you prepare a budget and make strategic decisions.

Good luck...it is hard when you first go out on your own.

Ask for a raise. And have your boyfriend come down and see you every other weekend. Or get a room mate to help out with the bills

Life is full of choices, ain't it????

Well, the way I see it you got only two of them.

So, in my opinion you should take the job which is the permanent one! The part-time? Well, I guess you can keep growing where you have your permanent job!!! Financial and incentive!!!!

Short-term solution, find a roommate to share expenses. You are never home anyway so you would be a desirable roomie.

Long-term solution, get some education to help boost your income potential. I know its hard, especially with two jobs, but it is the best way to change your future.

You're a hard-working person...
I think you should open a savings account where you could deposit have of the money earned for the month...

Sounds like you are living beyond your means, find a better job, or cut down on the expensive things you buy. Move in with your bf?

maybe you could move to a cheaper apartment.

let go of all excess items.

brown bag it for lunch.

you need to pay your bills first! I moved out when I was 16 and I could only work 16 hours a week I was getting paid crap but I managed to pay everything on my own...if you are struggling to pay your bills, get rid of your Internet, long distance on your phone, cable...all the things you don't really need. Most Americans would rather live with debt and bad credit than get rid of their high speed Internet or cable! It's good that you want to be independent but you need to figure out what your priorities are. Bills shhould be the first priority, before you buy anything pay your bills...with the money you have left figure out how much you can eat, wash your laundry and go on little trips in your car.

First, make a list of expenses that you have both weekly and monthly. Once you have an idea of what you need to put aside from your paychecks, make sure yourself put aside a portion of that for savings and have some on hand for shopping, personal, and emergency expenses. If you find yourself not coming up with enough money, you may want to see if you should look elsewhere for a job that will cover your expenses and give you more money for other things. Working two jobs must be hard and if you can avoid it by getting one job that pays well, that might help a lot. I don't know if this helps at all. Good luck!

Well, I don't understand your situation. How could you not save money with two jobs? People are surviving with just one job that too $8/hour.
