Unemployment Benefits?
I am soon to be unemployed and I will be being let go for lack of work. As I understand it, this makes me eligible for unemployment. My base period if I file in July would be from April 2009 to March 2010...I was at a completely different job from April 2009 to December 2009. I voluntarily left this job, but I my highest quarter in my base period falls under April-June 2009.

I had a gap in employment from January through mid April.

Here's the question. If I am eligible for UI benefits will they look at my previous jobs earnings? Since I left that job willingly will there be any problems? Also, because I was hired in mid April and will continue to be employed until July my base period doesn't show income from this new job, any issues there? What should I expect?

Anybody can file a claim for unemployment after being let go. In Texas as in most states the unemployment office looks at the base period just for the earnings nothing else. They look at your most recent job you had to determine if you qualify for UI benefits. Even if you were fired from a job or quit for something stupid, if you cut somebodys yard the day after you were fired and that person that hired you has no more work for you they take that as your most recent employer. In your case, you good.
