with some banks you can register online, others you have to contact them to get a security number sent to you |

Be careful. I had my e-mail broken into shortly after I filled in the on-line form and sent off for a 'security code'.I was out the country when I applied. When I got home I rang them, they don't even ask for anybody to post anything as it's done completely on-line and received nothing from me so it was a bogus address! Rang them up to report I am a possible victim for theft!and I had to fight with microsoft for 3 weeks to get my hotmail address back!
Don't mean to make you paranoid just make you aware! |

usually you have to go to the bank's website and register using your account information. From that point their website should tell you what to do. |

I'm with lloyds tsb, I had to go into my branch and register, they then handed me the form to sign and I had to put a password in a secret panel then seal it. About 5-7 days later I received a user I.D. I then had to go online and put in the user I.D and the password I'd put on the registration form at my branch. You will then be asked to create a memorable password of up to 13 letters and numbers!! |

new users are given the opportunity to register on-line you obviously will need a few details of the account and they will e-mail & send your a user ID and then you will need a memorable information, and each time you log in you will have to give three of the number/letters from your mem.info.
I rate the service and there is also the ability to opt our of paper statements.
Good luck. |

I think some financial institutions make it easier than others. At B of A, my banker gave me a generic password. When I logged on with that info I then had to follow the instructions to CHANGE my password, username, etc. Somehow, it got all fouled up (or maybe it was just me???). But in the end, I love paying bills online, checking to see what payments have cleared, etc. I have just about everything on auto-pay. Since our paychecks are deposited directly into the account, it all works great. |
