Ask to open a savings account. They aren't as flexible as a current account, but the bank bears very little risk, so you should be able to get one without trouble.

No probem mate, go to the Co-Op(but you might need prove of ID from someone) I wish I had as they give a debit card as standard!!

I had the same problem some years ago, I got a bank to agree to give me a savings account. Then if I kept the savings account in good shape for 6 months, they would trust me with a checking account. It worked and I have been improving my credit steadily since then.

bad credit will not stop you from opening a bank account. You just need a minimum balance to open the account and be vigilant to retain that minimum balance.

opening a CREDIT CARD account might be more difficult with bad credit, but anyone with money can put money in the bank.

WWW.SUREFIREFINANCE.CO.UK can help you with bank accounts, credit cards, loans and mortgages for bad credit and you can apply online.

All banks (some are better than others) offer the Basic bank account.
No credit checks are run to open this type of account as they will not give you credit / overdraft / cheque books etc...
Fine for paying standing orders and direct debits and having wages paid in.

Natwest and TSB both offer good services ...
DO NOT UPGRADE TO A CURRENT ACCOUNT as then they will find your bad credit history and close you out.

Stay in the black

You should be able to open a basic one with just a solo card, no Cq book, overdraft etc. If your in scotland clydesdale's good for that.

Sitting Still
Just go in and ask for a standard current account. No, you don't want a credit card, overdraft facility or a loan (this will reduce snooping into your credit history. You'll be offered a basic one with no perks, and can begin building up a credit score.

Opening a bank account has nothing to do with your credit score. Wanting to borrow money is where your credit score comes into play.

go to the bank.. understand the conditions of the bank.. klet them know about your ability to maintain a minimum balance... they will surely help you and ask you to keep a smaller amount as minimum bal... have it stamped so that you can have proof of them agreeing to it.. it is not that difficult.. just need to have a word with the... make sure you have proof or they may start debiting penalties for not maintaining the bal properly..

monkey
i have the same. barclays will take you
