I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas (that they don't mind sharing) for making a little extra money on top of a full-time job. I work a shift pattern that is 4 days on and 4 days off. I would like to put my time off to better use and make a little money as there's not much left after all the bills are paid.
I am thinking of selling some stuff on ebay that is lying around the house and not getting used. I've also heard of drop-shipping and would be willing to give it a try if i could find out a little more about it.
Another thing i was thinking of was investments, either in property or stocks and shares.
Any other ideas or more insight to the ones i've mentioned would be greatly appreciated.

Get a second job -
I wouldn't start investing unless you have no debt but your house. If you have credit card balances - you will save more money by paying them off; then by leaving the debt on there and trying investing.
Investing really shouldn't be used to create income; but to create a nest egg for long-term goals (like 5+ years out).
Is there anything you are good at? Can you start your own business in your home part time? |

I think they also have some paid survey programs too if you're into that. I have done some drop-shipping before, but you end up not making much money if any. The dropshippers are the middlemen with their own mark up on their products and with all the fees on ebay to sell its very hard to get a large profit margin. Usually people selling new on ebay, amazon, etc sell at wholesale which is always a better price then you can sell it for through a dropshipper. |

Starting a home business is a great way to earn some extra income. You should be looking for PASSIVE income. That is, income that unlike your job you aren't clocked per hour. A home business is exactly this. As you mentioned Ebay is a great way to make some extra money, and is moving into the direction you should be. Why not start a blog that makes you money while you're at work?
You can start a review site for all the console games or ipod or the latest clothes or other trendy stuff that people like reading about.
Or you can start a site about a topic you're interested in - fly fishing, camping, sports, cooking, dating, etc.
And then post your blog to the social bookmarking sites and get some traffic.
Wash, rinse, repeat over and over again.
