Spaz | Welcome Loans messing me about? |
I was so happy. Despite my previous money worries, I mamaged to get accepted by Welcome. The credit checks were done and I was accepted. They asked me to return proof of address and ID, payslips, etc, which i did. And now they wrote saying i dont comply with their criteria? Why on earth would they do that? I had the credit checks, they werent waitng for a fee from me, all the paperwork was in order and i had gone through all details with one of their advisers and now they wont even explain whats wrong over the phone? :( |

To be honest with you i would say they have looked at your pay slips and other outgoings you may have and seen that you would probably struggle to make the monthly repayments and thats why they have said you dont meet the requirements.
Give them a ring and see what they say. |

I used to work for Welcome. I take it you went into their branch office, as opposed to online. It's usually one of 2 reasons, depending on how scrupulous the branch is. 1. They may have rejected you because although you passed the (computerised) credit test, on reflection you couldn't afford the loan. They can see how much you pay to each creditor and the balance of your debt, so if it was a responsible branch (mine wasn't) it shouldn't lend to you. However Welcome branches do have targets, so if they really needed your business they'd probably ignore it. If, on the other hand they didn't need your business that month (eg if you did it round the busy xmas period) they could take it or leave it. 2. If you rejected their insurance policies (payment protection, life insurance etc) they would probably decline you (illegally) in order to meet targets. As a general rule you need to at least take out 1 insurance product for them to meet target. |

You may have some bad credit issues that they found out about after the fact. |

I would think of it as a lucky escape mate, Typical 64.4% APR Variable!!! Holy s**t! That is beyond extortionate.
To answer your question, they may have at first approved it, then it has to be underwritten and this is when they recheck and can decide not to give you it if they think you are a bad risk. Please try be thankful though, you've had a lucky escape from these unscrupulous lenders! Everyone is finding obtaining credit difficult at the moment because of what is happening in the US, lenders are tightening their belts and panicking. Work on improving your credit score (you can see it at www.checkmyfile.com) and apply to a reasonable rate lender in 6 months.
Good luck x |

Sounds like you were scammed, you just gave them all the info they needed to steal your identity and since they did a credit card check they know all your credit cards. I would be very careful and call up your CC companies and inform them. |

That's exactly what happened to me with Welcome Finance.
I stupidly got into more debt too because I thought I wouldn't pay my debtors as I was about to pay them off with a consolidation loan.
I was even told that the cheque had bean sent out!! It was only when I phoned them to say it hadn't arrived, did I find out that I no longer fitted their criteria :(
It's not right to be treated this way!!
Yes, we are at fault tobe in debt but who isn't these days? It's so easy to do and all we're doing is trying our best to get out of it. Paying one person a month is so much easier to keep track of than paying 10!!
Good luck in sorting out your finances :D |

you are right...all of us on Yahoo Answers have mind reading abilities and know exactly why the company rejected you. I wouldn't do something foolish like call them and ask them why. |

Welcome is the worst finance company ever. I had a loan with them once and they came in to my house when no one was there cause the seen the money and book sitting on my coofee table and helped them selves. I was in a neighbours house across the street and saw this. I would really not recommend them |

due to so many recent changes in the credit markets, it is possible that the loan product you applied for is no longer available, or that the approval guidelines have changed since you made your initial application. in any event, you are entitled to a written statement regarding your credit approval or denial.
upon request, they must provide to you ( in writing ) what critieria they used to arrive at the credit decision.
you could ask a friend or financial advisor for a referral to a known financial company or lending institution where you can recieve better service.
lending companies are strictly regulated and your rights are protected by state and federal laws. if you feel you were treated unfairly or improperly, file a complaint with the ftc or your state financial regulator or both. |

welcome finance are absolutely useless! unfrotunately tho when you have adverse credit they can sometimes be the only option! as a customer tho you do have the right to be told why you were refused! i'd phone back and if they are being avasive then ask to speak to their customer complaints department |
