Chicken Boyâ„¢ | What are the pro's and con's of being poor? |
|
|

Well, for one thing, if you never have any credit cards you won't have thousands of dollars haunting you all your life. And you get to eat lots of beans and rice, which is very nutritious. And when it comes to eatin', an onion becomes a luxury if you're lucky enough to have one to throw into those beans. You don't have to "budget" (we all know that rolling papers come before onions). That's the PROS. The CONS are (1) Being poor. (2) Not being rich.....Now , about the pros and cons of being rich, PROS=$$$$$$$$$$$$$. CONS=0 |

Pro:
Qualify for many programs that the middle class cannot benefit from, but can pay for...
May not even be aware that you are that poor because you can find someone that is worse off.
Con:
May be overweight b/c fast food is cheap and easily accessable.
May feel helpless |

cons of being poor: gotta eat spam, ramen, and generic pop...gotta take the bus can't drive the sports car....
hey chicken boy...i shall not continue on the lists as i might, just might offend someone....but you get the point....lol |

cons: You always feel insecure and less worthy as others so you may over compensate by buying expensive things when you do get a lil money.
pros: you learn how to survive through just about any situation. |
|

a pro is that people definitely won't use you for your money.
a con is death by starvation or exposure to the elements. |
|

Pros: At some point you realize that you don't need many material things to make you happy
Cons: It's a constant struggle when you have to choose how to spend your money. When you're rich you don't worry about these things, you see something you like and you get it.
I've been both rich and poor, and I'd rather be rich, but I had to lose everything to learn what was really valuable. |

The pros's of being poor, you won't have those pesky relatives popping in sponging off you wanting a free meal or loan that never gets paid back. You can get the state to buy your food, pay your doctor bills, and maybe even pay the rent. So you can wear nice clothes and shoes that you bought with the money you don't have to pay your bills with......
The cons is....You can't get the state to pay your bills and you have to pay them yourself. And your kids won't move out because they won't get a job.So you get food stamps and that snobby clerk gives you the I'm better than you attitude when you give her your card.... |

The fact that you asked the question indicates to me that you probably are poor,(for whats in the heart is in the mouth )the question might be why am I poor?, who is to blame , what can I within my ability's do about it....good luck, ....no.... really its not luck its what you do about it ...Look around you what do you see....what you see is the way you have thought, change your thinking...=changed life ,think.....Act Now before its to late . |

Pros: You don't have to worry about losing all your money. You don't have to worry whether your friends only like you for your money. You don't have to spend a lot of time thinking about investment decisions. You can enjoy the simple life.
Cons: You may not be able to afford everything you want or need. You may have to make difficult choices on what to do with your limited funds. You can't afford instant gratification, although that's not necessarily a con. |

I'm not going to write out a list. But when you're poor, you can afford the most expensive clothes and shoes. I see it on my students, and I've actually read about it in a book called "A Framework for Understanding Poverty" (it's at work, so I can't quote it, sorry). The author discusses how people in the middle class (like me!) try to save their money and pay bills, etc., while people in poverty tend to live in the moment. When money is available, they will spend it without a second thought. Then, come the end of the month, they don't have money for rent, so they bounce. |

well pros it will make you a better person inside and when you do become rich it will make you appreciate all the things that you worked so hard for all your life. I grew up with 3 brothers and my mom was divorced with an alcoholic dad and I had friends that grew up with the finer things and honestly if I had to do it all over again I would do it the same way because it made me the kind and giving person I am today. The "friends" who thought they were better than everyone else because they had money well most were pregnant before graduating and on drugs so I am blessed to have grown into the woman I am today for the way I grew up .... |

When your rich you learn that money can't make you happy. When your poor you can find happiness in the most inexpensive ways, but that's b/c you have to. I think that if you can put food in your belly then you're rich. There are so many who can't even do that. |

Pro's... Since you wouldn't have any money, you wouldn't have to pay bills, taxes, child support, or rent.
Con's... You wouldn't have money for lotto tickets, beer, babes, or smokes. |

If I may generalize, most of the poor are ignorant, in the sense that they really don't have a clue if they are being dealt a bad hand and hence don't spend hours contemplating the correct decision. I also find that they can find fun in the simplest things in life while others with more jack in their wallet, spend up(to no avail) to attempt to have the same amount of fun. So the only downside if you see it this way is a deficit in material items which leave one with an empty happiness, from my perspective. |
