If something,I have no idea as to what, isn't done quickly. The trickle down effect on the price of everything we use or eat is going to skyrocket.Everything we use or eat gets a ride in a truck on it's way to us.
Also the middle class is the backbone of our great country. This enormous burden on them could and will put most of them into bankruptcy.Any country with a broken middle class cannot survive.
It makes me wonder, could that be the whole plan? But that is another question. |

gas prices are up so much not just because of the war in Iraq but the total demand for oil has risen because emerging countries like India and China are consuming at unbelievable rates, more then before, that's a major reason you're paying 3.00 a gallon
The treat of attacking Iran is another major reason, and Nigeria just had a problem with production that raised the cost of oil to 70+ a barrel.
Hope that helped you understand the economics behind the oil crisis. |

There is a boycott of Exxon Oil going on and most americans don't even realize it.
Why Exxon? You see, it works like this, Exxon is the world largest oil company. One oil company does not come to the aid of another. If the boycott could effectively reduce Exxons sales by a minimum of 50%, Exxon would have to react with some consumer incentives. There would be no place to store the surplus. Their stock would plumet if their sales could not be restored.
Boycotts have been the most effective means of peaceful protest available to the general public.
There have been attempts at a once a week don't buy gas. The problem is, people still buy gas, the day before and the day after. So there is not effect.
It is also very important to remember, conserve gasoline as much as possible. You can do a lot more than you realize. For instance.
When you get on the freeway, enter at the freeway speed. To do less means that you have just wasted gasoline in every vehicle that is so unlucky as to be behind you. It could be up to a hundred cars by the time the chain reaction has run it course. Do this and you are worse than the oil companies.
When a traffic light turns green, If you are slow to follow the car in front of you through the intersection, you are limiting the number of cars that can pass though on this light. A car that is sitting idol is getting 0 miles per gallon. That is a waste that is 100% your fault. You are worse than the oil companies.
If you are driving in the left lane and realize your exit or turn has snuck up on you, go to the next one. Don't slam your brakes on, stop traffic and attempt to cut across to it. You have effectively become the cause of a traffic jam that could last the rest of rush hour costing unimaginable gasoline waste as well as lost time. Some people do want to get home. Do this and you worse than the oil companies.
If you are looking for an address and there is a car or more behind you, pull over and allow them to pass before you drive at 10 miles per hour for 2 block searching for the asddress. Do this and you are worse than the oil companies.
DON'T RUBBER NECK STUPID. It doesn't matter what is on the side of the freeway, comming to a near stop to look at an ice chest on the side of the road should be enough to revoke your license permanantly. You are lucky that a jury of your peers, namely the drivers behind you, doesn't sentence you to lethal injection. Do this and you are worse than all of the oil companies combined.
All I am saying is, saving gas is a community effort and involves not just your car, it involve everyone that your driving affects.
A few more things. Don't slow down trucks. They use a lot more gas regaining speed. If you are driving the same speed as the cars beside you, move in behind them and let faster cars pass. |

Gas prices soar because oil producing countries blackmail others, many people having interest in oil business(GW.Bush for example) enjoy such rise privately. No one is serious about ETHANOL use.Solar energy is good but research is not encouraged. And war is encouraged to keep peace. |

You don´t have to spend on gasoline.
Nobody is forcing you to drive a car with a Gasoline Engine.
I suggest you to buy a 1999 (Or newer) Volkswagen New Beetle (Or any other model) with a Diesel Engine and a Manual Overdrive.
You will save thousands of dollars over the years. |

well here it is; the gov't has a large stash in the gulf of mexico, tugboats full, and thats why the prices are jacked |

I don't understand where the prices get raised from. That whole OPEC/demand thing doesn't make sense. When Katrina happened, they warned, high prices are coming, high prices are coming. When winter was coming, again, high prices are coming. Every time it rains a drop, high prices are coming, blah, blah, blah. Now summer is coming and guess what? High prices too! Bad weather, good weather, any weather is another excuse for higher prices. And opec just figures out the best way to steal our money.
However, the silver lining is (as I saw on CNBC yesterday), that psychologically people will curtail driving when gas goes over $3.00 a gallon. So it's not in big oil's best interest to raise prices over this mark. In fact a lot of gas stations are running specials today, like $2.99, just to keep people coming in. It's still too high, but oh well. |

It is so frustrating. There is no reason for it. It is going to send us back to Depression. Why work when you are paying all your money to gas just so you can get to work. This is a sensitive subject. There should be a law about raising gas prices. |

Bush is a bastard. I think that we should use some of the oil that Bush stole from Iraq when he invaded. We all know that was the reason why he went in. Also when a gallon of whiskey cost as much as a gallon of gas my car and me are going to get drunk. |

I think it is ridiculous!!!! we need to do something about them! maybe stop buying gas from a specific company so that they will drop their prices and then every other company will have to follow! |

We have a president whose made his money from oil companies! There are better alternatives: hybrids, electric cars...hell, they can even run a car on soybean oil....The technology is out there, its just not being made available to us! Aside from the fact its not good for the environment Im tired of cutting things from other areas in my life so I can fill up my car!!! |

Just some good old boys taking advantage of an opportunity. Was it Chevron who posted the largest profit ever for an American corporation?
It's kinda like the legalized loan sharks referred to as credit card companies.
What goes around comes around. If you mistreat capitalism, sooner or later the economy collapses and it gets back at you. |

I think that it is totally ridicules that I am paying over three dollars at the pump. I am not made out of money like most republicans seem to think. The U.S. is not made of one high class group of people, who have endless amounts of cash always flowing into their houses freely. In my opinion it is that ******** we call our president that is at fault! Remind me, why did we re-elect him for a second term... |

It's highly inconvenient because it causes the price of everything to increase, and that decreases the quality of life. Also, the upper classes are not affected and in fact some profit from it (including our President). It's a shame that it's just another blow to the middle and lower classes. However, compared to the sufferings of many people in third world societies, I suppose we shouldn't complain. |
