I have been banking with Bank Of America for over one year now. I am 19 years old and hold a checking, Savings, and credit card account with them. I have never overdrawn my bank account before and I did because I made ONE mistake. Now, because of that one mistake I have 13 overdraft fees of $35.00/each!!!!!!!! I am so upset about this and the bank will not do anything about it. I know eventually I will have to pay it, but for now, I want to open a new account so I can pay my bills with a new check card and cash my check. I need advice on this PLEASe I am soo upset and dont know what to do. |

Larger banks, are all the same. You just have to look around, for a bank that doesn't hit you up for ATM fees --- and actually, should ween yourselve OFF that nasty habit of relying on ATMs at all. Bank locally, is my advice.
Banks don't exist to help you. They are businesses, that hold your money -- and invest it (for their own profit), giving you 2-3% these days, mostly, for that privilege. You aren't a big account, which is WHY you pay fees (-- try that one, on for size!) If you had $100,000 or more in the bank, they'd cover your overdraft for you.. if that makes sense. But, if you have $300, they're take it right out until there's $12.37 left in there.. why? (because they assume you have NO power, no recourse and that is that).
If you are angy, find a local savings bank -- go in, visit them and set up your account. At least they'll smile when you walk in. Smaller banks are happier that you choose them. |

Most banks will check and see if you have any accounts with outstanding balances before opening an account. Stick with BofA and maybe look into getting overdraft protection on your account. |

online banks give the best savings rates by far. managing money is the most important thing. look for overdraft protection but you shouldn't be at a place where you bounce that many checks anyway, you are still young and have time. look at your local credit union |

Well i previously had an account with Bank of America also, they screwed me over as well. Then I switched to Washington Mutual. They are a great bank. If you have one in your area i suggest them. |

Bank of America did something similar to my husband and I as well. We banked with Key for almost 3 years and had no problems. I also recommend USAA, if you have access to a scanner on a regular basis. |

First, get that mess settled. If you made ONE mistake you should not have 13 O.D. fees to pay unless you wrote 13 checks or card uses.
Change banks - Citi Bank is one. Chase is another. HSBC is a growing choice. Be sure that you use a big one and investigate the fee structure before you change.
There is one thing - you have a ling history with BOFA. that does count for something. You might talk to an account manager about the situation. They would like to keep you as a customer. The banking business is highly competitive. You might work something out. A little negotiating might help you rather than throwing away that history and starting as a stranger in a new bank. |

well pay off the bill, than if you have a visions credit union near you than thats the best they have a bunch of advantages such as they dont charge to use a different atm like alot of banks! so visions credit unions of america would be the best, and they have great interest rates too! |

I have had the worst experience myself with Bank of Hell
as I call them
They are so "friendly"., when everything is runnign smooth
But he moment a bump in the road comes, they act like they dont know you I hate them seriously
I would keep just the line of credit with them and close everything else
But until then....capital one has a prepaid card thats sorta attractive
