Talk to the bank. If you have documentation that you have been hospitalized, they will work with you.

Assuming this relates to the UK contact your mortgage company NOW, explain the situation to them and they will help you. Often they will just let you pay the interest charges, which of course means you are not paying the capital so the mortgage will go on longer. Failing that contact Citizens Advice.

Tuffbrand
Did you have a mortgage protection policy? If not speak to them to see if you can get a break for a few months?

tell the mortgage company...they will wait.

When you first took out your mortgage you should have been asked if you wanted to pay the mortgage with insurance or without. If you choose with then you only need to get in touch with your mortgage provider and explain to them the situation and they will claim of your insurance for the payments. If however you didnt take out the extra payment for insurance then you have no alternative but to pay, lack of payment puts your house at risk.

lucyshines49
The best thing to do is to contact whoever holds your mortgage and explain what has happened and ask to work something out with the. It is much better to hear directly from you ASAP than have them find out by bounced cheques. You don't want them to take action against you . I wish you luck

Talk to the morgage company / bank , as they will work something out for you

You could ask your local CAB for advise , as you may be able to get help

ella_kilbride
it depends a lot if you have insurance. if not,you will need to speak as soon as poss.

DJJD
If you have payment protection insurance (PPI) on your mortgage and you have been too ill to work, you should be covered. Check the small print on your mortgage agreement. If not, you need to contact the lender straight away to tell them about it. If you are getting stautory sick pay, take the evidence to show them. If you are off work for more than 26 weeks, you may have to claim incapacity benefit.

Ouch, that sucks! Some banks will reason with you others will not.Good luck maybe refinance is an option.
