i am trying to figure out if there isa anything i can do about this. i went to safeway, i put $100 on my prepaid visa, and bought a few groceries. the total was $27.99. i only had $25 so i said to take the rest off my visa card. so he couldnt figure out how to do it, people were getting mad and leaving the line, i even told him i would not get something so it was under the $25 cash i had and he acted like he coudnt understand me.. so he finally did because someone told him how. so i gave him $25 and swiped my card.
so now i see on my balance that not only did he take my last $25, he also charged it all to my visa!
someone please tell me they can give me my moneyt back. i am so pissed ! i used my last $100 to put it on there to buy all my digital pics and now i cant! this sucks!
what do i tell them? do i ask for my money back at all of am i just **** out of luck because they hired an idiot that cant understand english and doesnt belong working a cash register? thanks! Additional Details i know i shoul dhave the reciept and believe me i save all of them! but i actually went thru my receipt drawer the day before seeing my balance online and i actually threw it out!

First go to the merchant and try to resolve the issue, bring your receipt. If they are unwilling to resolve the issue, call VISA and despute the charge. The number to call should be on the back of the Card. |

well, first you should have checked your receipt before leaving the store, Especially knowing he was having problems.
You should contact the manager and explain the situation in a CALM, RATIONAL manner ... They have records if the drawer was over $25 that day. |

If you have the receipt it should show you, what was charged to your card. Even though it's a pre-paid visa card, it should still have a number for you to call and dispute the charges. |

Go to the Safeway and explain the situation to the manager. They have to balance their registers every night and his should have been over by $25. You should be able to get your money back.
PS When discussing this with the manager, I suggest you don't use words like "idiot."

Go in there and talk to the manager and keep talking until someone hears you. That's not ok, but it doesn't mean they are ripping you off, it's that the person checking you through the line was a fool. You do not have to give your money away, go explain and if it takes 1 boss, great, if it takes 10 then it takes 10. Be tenacious and get your money back!! |

which safeway is this because different safeways will be different for instance one store a manager ive seen him refund money well more without evidence and another store they are almost paranoid? if its one of the first you can calmcy and politly explain the situation and if its the second if you have the card and gather as much information about the transaction as possible like your club card # date and aproxamate time and they should be able to look up the transaction and stuff but remember to be polite and they will be more open to what you are saying |

Take your Visa card, the reciept of where you put the money onto your card, the store reciept, and maybe an online reciept of transactions from that Visa card, take it all back to the store tomarrow and ask for the Manager and bit ch a fit.
Happened to me yesterday at Home Depot with my prepaid Mastercard, but my card is thought Western Union and I check my transactions online, so I printed that copy, ended up Home Depot corrected it.
Be stern and firm with them though. Good luck. |

Look on the register receipt and see if it lists both the cash and the card payments... if it does, take it to the store they will reimburse you right away.
If the cashier didn't enter the cash payment into the register so you have no actual proof on paper, here's what you do: take the receipt in and ask to speak with a manager. Explain what happened. They will use the receipt to determine the time/date of the transaction, and who the cashier was.
They will talk to the cashier if he is available, and hopefully he will remember this and tell the truth. If he doesn't, then they can check the records for that teller - his till likely would have been about $25 over that day, and that will corroborate your claim.
Even if his till is not over $25 because he is completely horrible at his job, the manager can check the security video. They should have every cash register on video, and they will clearly see you handing the cashier money as well as the card. Again, this will corroborate your story.
In this way, you should be able to get your money back. You may have to spend a little time advocating for yourself, but as long as you are firm, but still patient and courteous, they will fix it. Don't be afraid to ask for a higher manager if the one you are dealing with doesn't want to believe you or take care of the problem. If you have to, go all the way up to the store manager, or even the regional manager. Whatever you do, don't go away. Remember: the squeaky wheel gets greased, so continue to make noise until they give you your money back!

Wait until you receive your Visa bill. Call the bank that issues your Visa card (you can't usually contest a charge until you receive the Visa bill). Tell them you want to contest the charge and explain the situation. They should be amicable to reversing the charge. |
